Nostalgic Candies that I Would Buy for My Kids

One of the best parts about my childhood was getting to pick out a piece of candy if we were good at the grocery store. It was a nice little treat we would get once a week. There are so many nostalgic candies that I would still buy for my kids and many I am still able to find so I do get them for my kids. Others are a little harder to find but whenever I come across them I can't resist buying them.

Pez, of course, is one of those candies that have been around for a long time. I introduced Pez to my kids some time ago...its funny how one kid loves the candy and the other one doesn't. She just likes the cool candy containers you put the Pez candy in. They have a little mini collection of Pez dispensers.

Lemon Drops is a timeless candy. Still popular today and can be found at just about any store. I was even prescribed lemon drops by a doctor once when I had swollen saliva glands, he said that sucking on lemon drops would help produce more saliva and help the glands to go back to normal. Best medicine I have ever been prescribed!!!

Neapolitan 3 Color Coconut Slices were a favorite as a kid. I haven't seen them around but I did find them on the Internet on some candy websites. My mom was a freak for anything coconut so we got these often. One of my kids likes coconut so I think she would get a kick out of the colored coconut bar.

Fruit Stripes Bubble Gum was one of my favorite brands of gum to get at the grocery store. I don't really know why I loved them so much. I guess because of the fun colors and the flavors were pretty good but didn't seem to last very long. I swear I probably chewed the whole pack in about 10 minutes, the gum was just addicting! I still remember the commercial "Yikes Stripes Fruit Stripes Gum!" I looked it up on youtube.com and actual found it from the early 1990's. I can still find these at the store from time to time.

Brach's Jelly Nougats were another favorite growing up. When I think of these I remember when the grocery stores in my area used to have these big bins full of different candies like Brach's Jelly Nougats, Chuckles, Gum Balls, etc. And they would have these big scoopers that you would dip into the bins and get a big scoop of candy and put it in the plastic bag. If I remember right, the candy was sold by the pound so you could get a variety for the same price. I'm sure there are some stores that still do this just not around where I live. I used to think the Jelly Nougats were so cool to look at, kind of like a little piece of art. Not to mention they were pretty tasty. I think the kids would really like them.
