Nostalgic and Vintage Candy Kids Still Love

Candy never seems to fade away. There is always a new candy on the market, or old ones getting a makeover. Candy is a staple in our lives, even if some of us don't eat it, others will. Do you have a favorite candy from your childhood that you think might pass with the kids now? I remember many candies from my childhood, and most of them are still timeless classics. See if any of the following bring back fond memories.

Lemonheads

Nostalgic candy I know my son would love includes Lemonheads. I remember waiting, with my sister, for the ice-cream truck to drive by so we could spend our quarters on candy. Lemonheads were my favorite to buy because they came in a cool little paper box that fit in my pocket. These little yellow candies had a semi-sweet soft shell, but when you bit into them, the sour lemon flavor came through. My son loves sour candy and I think he would love Lemonheads.

Boston Baked Beans

My husband loved these as a kid. Now that I think about it, I loved them, too! These candies came in little boxes, similar to Lemonheads, but the little candies weren't sour, they were candy-coated peanuts. They were addictive and fun. They didn't melt in your hand in the summer sun, so they were great to buy and eat all summer. They were also sold for a quarter per box and wow they were good.

Zotz

Do you remember Zotz? I cannot remember if this was the exact candy I loved, but the packaging and description are pretty close to what my sister and I enjoyed as kids. (I think this is an east coast name, and it was different out here on the west coast.) These little candies came in little individual packages, like pillows, and four were all attached in a line. You could the whole package for a quarter from the ice-cream truck. I loved these sweet hard candies because when you bit into it, fizz filled your mouth. These aren't sour, but I know my son will love the surprise fizz inside!

Pez

Who hasn't has Pez? Pez candy is iconic in the candy world. Everyone I know has grown up loving it and collecting the Pez dispensers. (If you still have the classic ones, they are collector pieces now.) The tiny candies came in perfect little packages that unwrapped into their dispenser. I loved the candy, but I could never get all of the Pez in the dispenser. This candy comes in many different flavors and is available at almost any supermarket checkout line now. My son has enjoyed this treat for years now.

Bazooka Bubble Gum

Bazooka Joe was one of my favorite candies as a kid. I really don't know if gum counts as candy, but it was a treat every time I stopped the ice-cream truck and was able to buy a single piece for a nickel. If I had a dollar, I was the richest kid on the block, and had the most gum! The best part about this great candy/gum was the ongoing saga of Bazooka Joe in his very own comic strip. Every piece came with its own comic. If I remember correctly, each comic was numbered. If you were like me, you could save every single one of them and put them in a binder. Yes, I did that. My son loves this candy, too.
