So how do I make the change? How do I take the step in making the right choice? I know its baby steps, but how? I always mess up after a few weeks and fall off the right path which creates the roller coaster effect. That is so unhealthy. So here I am trying it again, but this time its a life changing experience. What do I mean by life changing experience? The doctor referred me to the surgeon to check out the procedure for gastric by-pass. It is very scary. They weigh you and get your height. Then you are shuffled in with a big group of people. They all sit waiting to hear the orientation. They begin by using a Power-Point that shows the different types of surgeries. Boy, that was scary. First they showed the gastric by-pass, and then they showed the band.
They showed pictures of both. They cut your stomach and create a small pouch. Then hook your big intestines up to the little pouch. They leave everything inside. You will loss weight quickly. A percentage of the people will gain at least 50% of their lost weight back. The band wraps around you stomach. They leave everything intact. You lost slowly on the band and there is maintenance.
When they do the surgery, there is no difference on the method except for putting the band in. I know it sounds scary, but what choice am I left with? I know, your saying lose weight, diet, and exercise. But its not that easy. I have dieted over and over. I have lost 30 to 40 pounds each time. But as soon as I fall off the diet, I gain the 30 to 40 pounds back quickly, plus an additional 20 pounds. This has to change? I need to change my mindset, the way I think about food and my surroundings. This surgery will change my life. I do have concerns about lose skin. I know I'm going to have a problem with my stomach as it already hangs. That is a normal problem with people doing the surgery. Many people have plastic surgery afterwords. I feel, if your going to have the surgery, plastic surgery is a must have. It will help you feel better about yourself and boost your self-esteem. So if you had an opportunity to do the gastric by-pass, would you?
