Not Everyone Thrilled About Sarah Palin's Biker Appearance at Rolling Thunder Event

As usual, wherever she goes, Sarah Palin manages to cause some kind of controversy. The Rolling Thunder bike rally in Arlington, Virginia on Memorial Day Weekend was no exception. Palin, the queen of controversy, decided to kick start her National Bus Tour at this event, even though this bike rally is not a political event.

The 24th annual Rolling Thunder Memorial Day Event is meant to draw attention to veterans that are missing in combat action and other issues veterans are facing today. The non-profit organization holds this event annually in Washington DC. More than 100,000 motorcyclists were in the event, including many Vietnam War veterans. Palin and her entourage managed to get themselves pretty close to the front of the rally, riding Harley motorcycles loaned to them by a local Harley dealer.

Many weren't exactly appreciative of the way Sarah Palin showed up at the event, including the Rolling Thunder's national legislative director. It was said that if she wanted to ride, she should have been at the back of the pack, instead of taking a "front row seat" as she always seems to manage to do. It was also reported that many of the riders felt that this wasn't the place for Palin to try and launch a presidential campaign.

Earlier in the week, there was reported controversy as to weather Sarah Palin was even invited to the event. It was later declared that all supporters of the organization are welcome to attend the event, so there was no reason why Sarah Palin couldn't attend the event if she chose to do so. She was not asked to speak at the event though, as this was not a political event.

There were people at the event that said Sarah Palin's appearance could boost the profile of the event. Supporters said that any high profile figure like Palin would likely help veterans causes, not hurt them. Anyone that's involved with veterans is wonderful, which no-one can deny.

Palin shook hands and posed for pictures at the event, and then was on her way, with her husband and two daughters in tow. Her political committee said this was an opportunity for Palin's family to visit the historic sites of the area. She said she supports and cares for our veterans and their causes and that's why she choose to attend this event.

Sarah Palin hasn't said yet weather she'll make a bid for the 2012 presidential nomination. Many speculate this National Bus Tour of hers is an attempt to "test the waters".

Be aware, you never know where Sarah Palin will show up next. I'm sure this is only the beginning of her many upcoming appearances in the next year.
