Not Evil Just Wrong Documentary Takes on Gore and Global Warming

Robert Dougherty
Documentaries are becoming more and more useful for political purposes, as Al Gore, Michael Moore and Bill Maher have proven. Now the right wing, or at least those against the left wing, are beginning to strike with documentaries of their own. One upcoming documentary seeks to be a counterpoint to Al Gore's An Inconvenient Truth. The Drudge Report, naturally, is the first to give some buzz to Not Evil Just Wrong, and draw attention to its anti-global warming agenda.

Drudge linked to an article in the Irish Times that talks about the upcoming documentary from Ireland. Not Evil Just Wrong is advertised in the story as a film that will "do for Al Gore what Fahrenheit 9/11 did for George W. Bush."

The movie heavily attacks the "hysteria" of global warming and claims that the rush to judgment causes more harm than good for the poor. Not Evil Just Wrong focuses on environmental scares, like the ban of DDT pesticides, as examples of the consequences brought about by extreme environmental ideology.

Al Gore is also likely to be bashed quite a bit, as the movie argues that even more terrible consequences will happen if Gore's more extreme proposals to stop global warming are adapted.

A website for Not Evil Just Wrong is also up by married film makers Ann McElhinney and Phelim McAleer. As is common for most right-wing films, they advertise Not Evil Just Wrong as something Hollywood doesn't want you to see. Al Gore even has big exaggerated lips like the Joker on the website.

McElhinney and McAleer shot the documentary in Ireland, China, Uganda, England, France and the United States. However, Not Evil Just Wrong is not finished yet, and the film makers are looking for donations that will allow for a full cinema release. The added publicity from the website and Drudge could help, as the directors need to raise about over $3 million dollars.

McElhinney and McAleer previously courted the wrath of environmentalists with a documentary called Mine Your Own Business, which was 70% funded by Canadian mining company Gabriel Resources. McAleer has said that the company had no editing power and only saw the film after it was finished.

The possible release of Not Evil Just Wrong is the latest example of non-left wing features and documentaries coming out to argue the likes of Gore and Moore. Ben Stein's Expelled tried to argue earlier this year that creationists were being persecuted in academia, but the movie made little money and got terrible reviews. The right wing comedy An American Carol had even worse results last month.

Roll on this trading scheme. I am going to make a fortune out of it just like Al Gore in now. Stuff the science. Lets get greedy. A 1% fee on a trade is going to net me about $1,000,000 in the first six months alone. The sooner trading starts the better.

With Iran getting away with their shananigans we probably won%27t have a planet to worry about anyway in the near future.

Satellite readings of temperatures in the lower troposphere (an area scientists predict would immediately reflect any global warming) show no warming since readings began 23 years ago. These readings are accurate to within 0.01ºC, and are consistent with data from weather balloons. Only land-based temperature stations show a warming trend, and these stations do not cover the entire globe, are often contaminated by heat generated by nearby urban development, and are subject to human error.

FYI, every one of the last 14 years (1994-2007) was one of the warmest 20 on record. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Temperature_record_since_1880

Well, all of the energy companies for whom I work and all of the high tech firms are making strident environmental plans. They rarely 'overreact' to environmental concerns. We can certainly identify all number of environmental ills associated with mercury, GHG emissions, etc (more people will continue to die from air quality related issues each year than will die in car accidents in the LA area, for example, unless emission issues are handled). Quibbling over the exact temperature (it has been rising on an average basis - the glaciers ARE melting) seems ridiculous when faced with the reality of a planet with brown air seeping everywhere. Thanks for a good article.

GLOBAL WARMING? Are you sure? The earth's temperature may in fact be cooling slightly.

If we are to set serious guidelines to clean up our mess in the air and water, we should base decisions on sound data and not emotional hype.

While Al Gore's efforts to clean up the air and water should be applauded, his argument on Global Warming is rooted in information now appearing to be incorrect.......

It seems we may not really be warming, but cooling.
