Now none of these things are drastic like surgery, but they are things that you can find in a grocery store or online. Good luck and I hope that you find a quick fix to one of your problems.
Teeth-it is my opinion that teeth is a big factor in beauty. You can be as pretty as Giselle, but if you have teeth like Spongebob you will NOT feel attractive. What do I suggest? Upgrade what you have. If you're teeth are spaced then WHY have spaced, brown teeth. Have the best teeth you can have! Whiten you're teeth. Crest, Colgate, even Aquafresh offer different whitening methods. The easiest to you will be the Aquafresh Whitening Trays because they're easy to put on. Easy to take off and do the same thing as Crest and Colgate's sticky whitening strips. The trays cost $40, but hey you deserve it. Splurge a little bit. Another thing you can do is practice in the mirror talking so that you're teeth do not show. In high school pre-braces I mastered that technique so well that when I told one of my friends of 3 years that I wanted braces she had no idea why, and neither did any of my other friends because they had NEVER seen my teeth. Practice you're talking, smiling and laughing. There are certain ways that you can maneuver your lips to hide your teeth. Remember, I know you're mad at your parents for not getting you braces, but money is very hard to come by and some things you have to earn on your own. So you might not be getting that shiny metal until YOU get a job.
Skin-this is area directed to ethnic women. Now, do you feel you're skin is too dark? Although there is a stigma attached to skin bleaching, I see nothing wrong with it. If it is ok in society to tan (darkening the skin), then it should also be ok to bleach (lightening the skin.) Tanning is dangerous, well so is bleaching. If you choose to bleach your skin do not use skin bleach that involves "hydroquinone." Yes, it works well, but it could probably give you cancer. Unfortunately most of the store bleaches includes hydroquinone, but I did find a product "Makari" that doesn't. It works very well, but it is kind of expensive. For a bar of Makari soap you may end up paying $19. What do I think? If it makes you happy, then price shouldn't matter. You can buy Makari on their site, eBay, Amazon. When you make the decision to lighten or darken your skin just think of it as hair coloring. It shouldn't be as big of a deal as people make it out to be.
Acne-when I got my breakouts I ran to Proactiv. There kit not only fixed my acne, but their Daily Moisturizing Lotion kept my skin super smooth. The only con to that was that random people began feeling my face because of the smoothness, which was very weird. The lotion also protects your skin from the damaging sun with SPF 15. The sun block and Proactiv Toner improves your skin tone appearance to be more even. Well, Proactiv was pretty expensive. They offer discounts now, but mine cost about $60. What do I use now? Stridex facial pads. There were 55 in my jar. You get up, wipe your face with it, and you have no acne after a couple days. This works great. I'm in college and a lot of the food I eat is not EXTREMELY healthy. When I first got to college my face started to break out a lot. Now I don't have a pimple in site, and Stridex can even improve oily skin. Are you still in love with the Proactiv deal? Well after the success of Proactiv, lots of copycat products appeared in the market that worked just as well at way cheaper prices. One of those copycat products fortunately came from a trusted name, Neutrogena Advanced Solution priced at $20-25.
Makeup-I was one of those girls in high school that didn't wear makeup. After graduation my bad attitude towards makeup changed. Makeup is good for a much needed smooth complexion and hiding blemishes. With foundation on you look like a porcelain doll. If you need help on putting on makeup, all of the big makeup companies like Cover Girl, L'Oreal Paris, Revlon, Maybelline, and Almay just to name a few, have step by step directions, and look books for makeup ideas. At Cover Girl you can actually try on the makeup virtually. You download their Makeup Mirror. Upload a picture of yourself and then you can try on their different products so you know how you'll look with the products on before you buy it. Buying makeup for African American skin can be difficult I found out.
You can never really find the right shade for you, so to African American women I suggest a few things. 1) Liquid makeup, the best thing about liquid makeup is that you can easily mix it to get the perfect shade for your tone. Unfortunately liquid makeup gives a shiny, oily, and even sweaty appeal to our face, BUT L'Oreal has a liquid foundation that turns into powder once touching your skin, so you can mix it to match your tone, and it will go on like a powder. 2) L'Oreal also has a Perfect Match makeup, it supposedly matches 97% of skin tones, but I always say "that last 3% is most likely shades of brown." There isn't a lot out there for brown skin, but I have Cover Girl Professional Loose Powder on my shopping list. If you have sensitive skin I suggest mineral makeup because it comes from the earth. It is good for your skin, and almost every makeup line is starting to offer it. The only con is that if your skin is on the darker side you might not be able to find your shade from ANY makeup like. Mineral makeup is aimed at people with light skin tones or people with SLIGHT color in their skin. Sheercover promises mineral makeup for dark skin tones, but the lady modeling the shade is nowhere near mocha. I'd suggest to still try it out in case the webpage mislabeled the picture.
Hair-this is a lovely subject. I suggest that all girls use Pantene. I use it and I love it. It keeps your hair silky, shiny, and stronger. I like to call Pantene "hair crack" because your hair becomes addicted to it. Don't make the common mistake of using the shampoo and NOT the conditioner. If you wash your hair and not shampoo it then it is in worse condition than BEFORE you washed it. Always, always condition your hair. Some days I wake up and want short hair, some days I want long hair. What to do? Everyone likes a little variety; don't go chopping your hair off or growing hair at Rapunzel's length. Most Hollywood celebrities use extensions, lacefront wigs (which are incredible), or fusion hair. All three are expensive, but lakefront is healthier because it doesn't damage your hair like extensions or fusion hair. A lacefront wig can be long or short, no one can tell it is a wig. Tyra, Beyonce, and even Ciara wear these wigs. These wigs can cost from $200 and up. Fusion hair cost around $500 and up. Extensions are the cheapest. They come in all kinds of textures. Although Jessica Simpson is the queen of lacefront wigs (often wearing them to awards shows), she does use extensions frequently. Paris Hilton has kept her hair at a short length for a couple years now, but she always has extension tracks in her hair. No one will have 3 inch hair on Tuesday and then 22 inches of blond locks by Thursday. It is scientifically impossible. She wears extensions almost everyday.
Body shaper-maybe you shouldn't have eaten that slice of cake last night, or McDonald's this morning. I'm not judging! If you're feeling a little bulky and embarrassed then by a body shaper. You can get one for around $30-60 and it works immediately. It is an undergarment that you put on and it instantly gives your body an hour glass shape and makes that tire around your belly disappear. Who wants to pay that much for an undergarment? Someone who is tired of feeling self-conscience about their body. This makes all the lumps and bumps go away. THAT'S ALL FOR RIGHT NOW, BUT REMEMBER...IF IT MAKES YOU HAPPY THEN BUY IT.
