Dani D.: What or who inspired you to write a song like "Pro"?
Draz: Before being a recording artist and songwriter, I am a music lover. I listen to all music and "Pro" came about by just listening to a lot of music that's out right now that's directed towards women. I do NOT, I repeat, do NOT want to make a hypocritical statement because I do not want to seem like the perfect gentleman but, there are way too many songs out right now about women's features and or about what guys want from women. There are not any songs out there really praising or appreciating women, because women are beautiful creatures, outside of their physique. I am an outlet for my fans and this is for the people, more so the women and some rappers have nothing more to say then command women to do this or that. Not that I did this just to fill the void, this was and is how I feel.
Dani D.: Why did you release "Pro" as your first single?
Draz: On [Breath of Fresh Air] Vol.1, I went to the streets, first with the anthem K.I.M (Keep It Moving). It is not a formula with me. I go for how I feel on these records. K.I.M. was my breakthrough record so, I went with it. I had ALOT of good records to choose from on Vol.2 [The Hunger] but, I was most proud of this one [Pro]. I have written many records about or towards women before but, this one just felt perfect and I gave some sneak peeks to some hard critics. Out of the potential singles, PSY as a label (C.Will, Killa Quay, and I) agreed we should really push this hard.
Dani D.: Who produced this for you?
Draz: C.E.O of Straight Out Da Den and also producer of "Congo" from Vol. 1, J Good. He is a good dude with a very different ear...he official! He also did my second single "No". That's gonna be another smash.
Dani D.: You have said that you strive to be yourself and you make music that represents you...so are you looking for a young lady to be your "Pro"?
Draz: Yes, when the timing is right. I'm so dedicated to my career right now I doubt I would be able to commit to her as she would deserve. If my girl is a PRO then I need to be OFFICIAL, together we would be OFFICIALLY PROFESSIONAL...feel me? U like that? I just made that up! (Laughs.)
Dani D.: Who is your dream "Pro"?
Draz: Umm... I know my mom will be reading this so I'm going to say her laughs. Now if you mean as far as a mate I do not know. My dream "Pro" is whoever my soul mate is because I do believe in that so when she comes to me, or if I have already met her or spoken to her before I look forward to realizing who she truly is and the purpose she has in my life. Is that corny to you? But this real tho!
Dani D.: That's not corny at all.
Dani D.: Clearly with the title "Breath of Fresh" you must believe that you are a breath of fresh air, so why should people "breathe" you?
Draz: I'm advocating that anyone breathe in something real. Isn't it true of consuming too much of one thing it then becomes toxic or like a pollutant to you? Not to call any other artist or type of music bad or toxic, but it does not seem that there is a variety of music. With me you will get just that. In a selfish type of way, I write/make music how I feel or from my mood. But that works out because I feel and go through the same issues, pain, and happiness of music listeners.
Dani D.: What can be expected from Breath of Fresh Air Vol. 2: "The Hunger" ?
Draz: All the "Pros" (Laughs) no pun intended; you can expect a flip in the edge as far as the production and the songs are concerned. Songs are definitely relatable and close to home too.
Dani D.: What is "the Hunger" exactly?
Draz: A complaint that I received on Vol. 1 from some respected critics, saying, lyric wise I sounded too comfortable. I disagreed, but it is not about agreeing. I am in a supply and demand industry and if someone is unhappy with something then I do have to step it up and improve. "The Hunger" is my proclaim that I am not comfortable and that I have a desire...an urge...a hunger to go further and seek more success then I have already have attained. I am confident Vol.2 will satisfy those who were satisfied with the first edition along with those who wanted more from me.
