We arrived at Italiano Delight in Emmaus, Pennsylvania around 4:30 p.m. today for dinner, with no other customers seen in the restaurant. Although, it was a Thursday, I was still surprised. A few tables were taken, however, by the time we finished our dinner. Upon entering the restaurant we were shown quickly to a table, after being asked something to the like of "What do you want?" by our future waitress. I didn't think that was the most polite greeting, but she still had a chance for redemption.

We quickly decided upon our drinks and entrees, and our waitress took our order quickly. We both chose water with lemon, and their house Lemon Basil dressing for our salads - both asked to have no onions. The drinks, salad, and fresh, warm sesame speckled rolls were provided promptly. The salad was a mixture of mediocre light and dark greens, topped with cucumber slices and grape tomatoes. Nearly every tomato was turning a bit black, and the one that I tried did not have a pleasant taste, either. I wanted more dressing for my salad, but our waitress was not present again until our dinners were served a bit later. However, I have found that to be not so uncommon at restaurants. Upon telling her of our concern about the tomatoes, she spoke to the owner and said that was how "grape tomatoes are supposed to be - they come off the vine." Yes, they come off of the vine, but they shouldn't be turning black! The rolls, on the other hand, were pleasantly crisp on the outside, yet soft on the inside.

My companion's entree choice was Spaghetti with Meatballs. It came to our surprise when the dish was served with meatballs, as well as meat sauce instead of the typical tomato sauce, but this did not seem to bother her. I ordered Eggplant Parmesan with Linguine and without cheese. The dish was served with an abundance of tomato sauce, which our waitress apologized for, but I had no complaint! The extra sauce was an added delight for me. However, I did not like the pool of water that was at the bottom of my dish - possibly from the pasta not being drained well enough. The eggplant was very well breaded, possibly much for some, and slightly soggy, yet palatable. The linguine was cooked al dente, and provided a nice compliment to the eggplant. I was quite full after eating only a small portion of my dinner, and was happy to take home an enormous amount of left over food - definitely two full servings or more!

Upon finishing our meals, our waitress quickly took care of the bill and provided us with take home boxes and 2 pairs of chocolate mints. Our bill - two entrees, without drinks or dessert - came to a total of $29.57, with tax.

Overall I would rate our food as good, but not great or in any way extraordinary and our service as fair - not quite mediocre.

Thanks, Kristie! It's very delicious! I haven't been there in a few months, so I'll have to stop in again soon for some of their tasty lemon basil dressing and to see if their service has improved!

That's true! Luckily, there are still a few places around here that provide consistent quality and service. I'll have to put some more positive reviews up, soon.

By today's standards in service, it sounds like you had a pretty good night.

I'm glad you liked the review, and I agree, it is a shame that most restaurants now a days are just mediocre.

Very good - I think your review covers most of the restaurants now adays on both sides of the pond - which is a shame!
