Not One More Step Without You

The Joy of the Lord is My Strength

April Lorier, Author and Encourager
I am learning how to stay joyful, Lord!
I do not follow the advice of the unbelievers,
or hang out with those who do not love You,
or join in with those who scoff at Your Word.

I delight in doing everything You want me to do;
Day and night I meditate on Your Word.

I am like a healthy tree planted by a riverbank,
bearing fruit each season of my life without fail.
Look at my leaves! They do not curl up and fall,
and in all I do I prosper: spiritually and emotionally!

The same can not be said of the wicked of this earth.
They are like worthless chaff scattered by the wind.
I am sad because they will be condemned at the time of judgment.
Unbelievers will not have their place among the godly.

You watch over my path, Lord, as I
purposefully and consciously live to be pleasing to You.
My path does not lead to destruction like the ungodly,
and I am forever Yours.
Not one more step will I take without You,
for I love feeling the Joy of my Lord.

(Based on Psalm 1)

Linda, I think it's the first Psalm by design. It's such a promise, isn't it?

Nancie, I, too, thank and praise God for keeping His promise to cause ALL things to work out for His (and our) good. Thanks for taking time to comment!

Sussy, it's the only way to meditate on The Word, at least for me!

The first Psalm always encourages me so much, and your paraphrase is lovely! I really like the way you reprocess the Scriptures and make them so personal! Thanks for sharing your insights!

April, I'm sorry I haven't commented this week, but my life was turned upside down when my Daughter's SUV turned upside down, I've been reading most of them though..... you know how God always makes something good happen from a bad happening in our lives, well my
Daughter has been out of church for a while, and now she has turned her face to God.It took this awful accident to show her how much she needed God in her life....thank you Jesus! ,,,,,,, As usual this poem was so awesome, I love Psalms, the musical poetry of David. Thank you for this inspiring piece.

Thank you, Jill. It's my way of meditating on God's Word. When one personalizes it, it takes on new meaning!
