I should try to get up early;
But I am not getting up today;
I need to clean the house;
For now, it will have to wait;
There is enough food;
No groceries to carry home;
There is no laundry;
That I need to haul today;
I slumber until noon;
Underneath warm blankets;
The cat snuggles with me;
Today, he has me for himself;
A fan is blowing air;
Fresh from the outside;
The phone is recharging;
There are no appointments to be kept;
Freed from outside obligations;
I can do anything I want;
Or I can choose to do nothing at all;
A day of peace and quiet;
To pause, reflect and meditate;
To do solitary things;
Think, pray, and create;
The world goes on;
But I am here for a short time;
In my special yet separate place;

Post a CommentNice one :)
I've certainly had days like that!
Reminds me of a line in a song "strange days indeed." As in, a day like that seems strange. Ah, to live the dream. Great art.
You took the words of my whole weekend. Finally a week off (from college that is) and no homework, sleep, sleep, and more sleep.....and if I didn't sleep, I still didn't get my lazy bottom out of the bed until 3 p.m. this Sunday, and ya know what??? It felt great! We all deserve a break! Great words, great real life feelings. Catdoggie!
Lovely enjoyed this, now if i can have some of these days
What a wonderful kind of day to have! These are the kind of days when we can get to know ourselves better, while recharging our energies for dealing with the demands of the busier days. You deserved this day for yourself !!!!!!!!!!! I really enjoyed this poem so tranquil and relaxing to my mind.....it connected with my inner being. And I bet Mr. Lucky was so happy to have you all to himself for a whole day! +*+*+*+
