Nothing but Net!

A Review of Those "net Things" Babies Eat With?

Jennifer Wright
Just what are those net things that babies are using to eat with now? They are called Fresh Food Eaters and are made my Munchkin. My cousin gave me a couple of these as a Christmas gift for my son. At the time I thought "Oh, this is neat." But now I am utterly thankful for these Fresh Food Eaters.

My son started using his Fresh Food Eater at six months. The wonderful thing about these "net things" is that you can put almost anything in them and it takes away the risk of choking. My son has now tried bananas which are very messy, strawberries, and even apples. Yes, he tried apples and mashed them into nothing with his gums. He tried all these things at six months and no choking incidents.

This Fresh Food Eater is a miracle when it comes to teething. I buy the frozen peaches or other fruit and put them in the net, and then he gets a yummy snack which also soothes his gums. Teething can be very painful for babies, and babies do not understand pain. Using these nets helps them to forget about the pain.

I find that my babies have not really liked the regular teething toys which you put in the freezer or refrigerator. But he loves his net. When my other three kids all sit down and have a snack, he can join them now. It is nice to be able to sit them all down and not have to watch the baby like a hawk, for an hour while he eats.

Teething biscuits are also a good thing to put in the nets. Teething biscuits have a habit of breaking off while baby is eating them, with the Food Fresh Eater nets, you do not have this problem. However, my baby doesn't care for the teething biscuits. He prefers the frozen fruit.

The one thing I do not like about these "nets" is that they are extremely difficult to wash. I do not have a dish washer, but I cannot imagine them being much better in the dish washer. Because my baby likes his net so much, I will suffer through the torture of washing the nets each time he has a snack.

Hint tip.-do not leave anything sitting in the net for very long after use. Trying to clean out dried banana out of mesh net is not something you want to try any time soon, trust me!

I used these with my son when he was teething as well. I agree, they are hard to clean. We would put frozen berries in there and he loved it!

I think these teether nets are too cool for school... but they are SUCH a pain to wash, like you said. Makes me want to lash out irrationally.

I have never heard of them either, but then my youngest is seventeen now. Very cool!
