When will the fair start?
The Nottingham Goose Fair 2008 will commence on Wednesday, October 1st at 5:30pm, and it will end on Saturday, October 4th at 11pm. The hours will be: Wednesday 5:30pm-11pm, Thursday 12pm-11pm, Friday 11am-11:30pm, and on Saturday 11am-11pm.
Where will I have to drive to?
The Nottingham Goose Fair will be held at the Forest Recreation Ground located on the outskirts of the city. You should note that there will not be any parking available for the public on or around the fair grounds during the fair, thus you will have to find other means of transportation; only Blue Badge holders will have parking at the even grounds.
If you would like to take trams, note that fees will apply but you will be dropped off directly at the fair grounds. If you would like to ride city buses, you will be dropped off and picked up next to the fair entrance, and you will have to pair for fare. For more information on what buses will be dropping off near the fair visit www.nctx.co.uk. If you don't want to take the tram or the bus to the fair, you can drive to The Queen's Drive bus Park and Ride (number 306) in order to take the shuttle to and from the fair.
Should I bring any cash?
Yes, you should bring cash! There is no entrance fee to enter the fair, however if you want to ride any rides, participate in booths or buy food or souvenirs you will need cash. All ride, food, and booth participation prices will vary.
How many fair rides will there be?
The visitors to the Nottingham Goose Fair get to experience up to 500 attractions. The attractions include roller-coasters, water rapids, and many other typical carnival rides. Carousels, Ferris wheels, and even flying swings will also be available and they are all family and kid-friendly.
Are booths and food vendors going to be available?
Yes, there will be over 200 separate booths including those who sell jewelry, take pictures, make pottery, and sell local crafts. Food vendors will also have their own booths and you will be able to purchase all kinds of traditional fair foods, and various local favorites.
Is this a family and kid-friendly fair?
Yes! Every year, you will find hundreds of family and kid friendly booths and rides at this fair. The rides usually take kids of all ages, they just must meet a certain height. As for the booths, it's usually preferred for the kids to have adult supervision. You will however have the advantage of not having your kids exposed to any things foul in part of the booth owners.
Are there any tips for visitors?
Yes, there are many things that you should take into consideration and be aware of when going to a festival that gets very populated, especially at night.
If you have children, make sure to always know what they're doing it, and where they are at. You should also let them know before hand that they are not to separate themselves from you at any time unless you're watching them; kids have been reported missing after visiting fairs, thus you must watch your children at all times.
Also, if you are taking any valuables, make sure to be careful. Usually people loose watches, glasses, wallets, jewelry and things of that nature when riding rides at fairs. It's recommended that you don't take anything more than you'll need, as this will ensure that you are not looking for something missing without anyone helping you, or during the late hours when it gets dark. It will also allow you to be able to ride all the carnival rides you want without having to trust someone to hold your valuables, or without having to miss the rides because of it.
