Some people go through life and never give a second thought to the needs of the soul. Most days are spent feeding the body and the ego, but sometimes the soul is left unattended and unnoticed.
Now as life seems to be passing you quickly by, you're left with an unhappy feeling deep inside, as if something in life is missing. Now your waking hours are spent trying to fill this empty part of yourself with different types of activities, unaware of what's really lacking deep inside.
Purpose of the Soul
The soul is our eternal life force which travels with us in each lifetime as we skirt the universe visiting one dimension after the next. In fact, the soul is what the journey of life is all about, yet it sometimes is left out of the picture entirely. In order to feed or nourish the soul you must first understand exactly what the soul is hungry for.
The word nourish is defined as: "to feed or cause to grow; to support." Another definition defines nourish as "to cherish; to maintain." Our inner most feelings and desires are hidden deep within the soul, and depriving this soul of it's much needed nourishment is something which is very detrimental to your emotional well being.
Everyone enters into this lifetime with different spiritual needs. Every soul is just as unique as a beautiful snowflake on a cold winter's day. The soul is a super computer with memory banks that exists into infinity. But in order to access these memories banks you must first look deep within yourself.
Are you truly happy with your life? Do you enjoy what you do for a living? And do you feel like you fit into the big picture of life? These are just some of the things which dominate the mind. And, these are also the thoughts which feeds the soul.
Getting to know your true self (or your soul) is something that can be done in several different ways. Here are several ideas which can help you to feed the soul.
Learn to Meditate
Meditation is an excellent way to get to the bottom of your inner most thoughts and desires. Thoughts of fear and worry can sometime overshadow your soul's desires. Most lives are spent doing only what we think is desired of us, not doing what is needed to nourish the soul.
Meditation can help you to diminish these destructive thoughts that dominate the third dimensional mind. Meditation can also help you to live a more peaceful life, which enables you to get to the bottom of your desires, and the needs for your spiritual growth. Meditation opens the door for you to be able to understand your "purpose" in life, and also the purpose for your third dimensional existence.
Mental Awareness
Mental consciousness is another way to understand your spiritual path in life. A clouded sense of reality sometimes blocks the opportunities which are just waiting. Being mentally conscious is another tool which helps you to recognize and also utilize these the opportunities when they arise.
Be aware of the opportunities that cross your path and replay them in your mind at the end of your day. Have some of these opportunities crossed your path before? If the answer to this question is yes, examine these opportunities for future actions to be taken. Maybe life (or your soul) is trying to tell you something which you've overlooked.
If the same thoughts seem to cross your mind over and over, this is your soul telling you of its hunger or desire. Treat your soul the same way that you'd treat and infant in its early learning experience. That's exactly why we're here in the first place: to experience life. So, share life and enjoy it with your soul.
Creative Endeavors
Open your mind to new ways of thought. Don't let yourself get caught in the trap of going through one day after the next in the same old ways of thought. Be creative and see what new ideas come to mind. Listen and be aware of your inner voice. This is how creative manifestation develops.
Learn to throw out negative ways of thought. Negativity is a great teacher, but it also can block the creativity lying dormant in the mind. Throw out the fear emotions of the ego, and also thoughts of self preservation Now you can open your mind to the mental Internet. You might be surprised what the mind can do when it's not suppressed. Use the mind, don't waste it.
Watch for Opportunities
Spend some time with a friend or make a new one. Love is one of the strongest emotions we have, and yet it sometimes is overlooked and hidden in the deepest parts of your emotions. If someone crosses your mind call them, or drop by and visit them. There is a reason that you're thinking about this person, so take a little time out of your busy day and spread the love around.
Sometimes there are important messages to be passed between the two of you. Each new experience in life helps you to open another door for exciting and new opportunities; this is what the soul hungers for. Helping someone in need is probably the best way to feed and nurture your soul. The love you send out comes back to you ten fold; whether you want it or not. We've all got plenty of love to share, so don't be greedy with it.
When the soul is neglected or un-nourished your daily life reflects it in: your moods, your attitudes, and also your opinions and ego. Blocking the existence of your soul makes everyone an unhappy camper in life. Always remember to allow yourself some quiet time during your busy day, and enjoy the silence of your mind. This is where your spiritual intuition lives.
Open up your mind to your inner thoughts and enjoy the silence. Now you can listen to the God part of your mind. After you've learned to nurture and feed the soul, you'll soon feel a new inner sensation growing inside of you. This is the soul returning the love you've given to others, and also yourself.
