NOVAFFL Versus FERGSPORTS, the FINAL CONFLICT (or is It?)

What Do I Have to Do?

Yeah, that's right you all missed it. Girlfriends, other engagements you missed the Allstar Novaffl versus Allstar JoeFergSports game Saturday January, 12, 2008. Seasons come and go, people come and go, but the history Novaffl created and the inherent resilience of the NovaFFL VIPS and All-Stars cannot be matched. You want to be us, You need to be us. You need to join us.

I know what everyone wants to watch. You want to see the game video, well, we will get to that, but need to read on to the Bulldog's musings. The Ferg team, was generally well-classed, but they were reluctant to speak to the "maddawg" reporter during the post-game activities, so I apologize if this seems slanted towards Nova. A few Ferg players did give their inputs and we will get into that.

One of the lesser inclined players to possess a touch of class, the (QB of the Ferg All-star squad) was so reluctant to talk to the innocent Madcap, that he broke into a tirade of middle school insults. This provided the first evidence that the Ferg team was looking like Nova a week prior. Alas, young man alas, I'm not here to examine your QB play or the critical game ending interception you threw, that is for you to swallow. But, attack the media, that's no bet, rookie.

Next, lets talk about the MVPs from the Nova squad. A first mention has to go to the venerable and hard to reach employee-owner, David Ott. Although not a pure passer like PilotRon, Ottskie, where Nova is concerned is a better scrambler, but more than that -- has a tendency to look to run first on occasions which necessitated Nova gains of some critical first downs. Additionally he provided appropriate risk-taking when it came time for a long ball to Beezy/Saracen and Grover. Take a look at the video, you will see Beezy drop a ball in front of the camera, but what you won't see, is a long TD pass from Ott to Beezy that literally stunned the Ferg secondary. So keep that in mind before you assail the "movin on up" Beezy.

The Commish, also known as Jason Gentili. Balancing the tough role of Novaffl Commissioner, Captain and game organizer, today was a grand day for the young director. What people don't know, is that Joe Ferg can come off as a little cold, yet a sound businessman. This improper respect was shown on the prior week when Ferg decided he didn't' need to talk to Jason. Ferg, it takes politics to be a king and a dictator, and I'm glad you discerned Jason's position and addressed him more this week. The Gentili has a powerful board of advisors, so not communicating with him probably set you back in city-state relations the first game. This week, you learned from your mistakes and participated in discussions even talking about another inter-league game.

I digress, Jason was the co-mvp (with the Ott) in my opinion, scoring two touchdowns and putting the game away with a 2-point conversion. Jason, much maligned for letting WRs get behind him, showed why he needs to play offense more. Today, he literally spun the defense on their coccyx bone (it's a bone in the buttocks region). Specifically, it was his spin moves that made the day and added yardage to the Novaffl offense. His capability to put the game away and to take the hearts out of the opposition was critical to Nova's win and will live long in Novaffl's history. Such a performance cements him as King of the coveted Nova crown. Now he just needs a championship.

Dejesus, Beazy, Coach D, Mcgrath, Andy B and Grover all added to the Novaffl offense. Again, Grover's clutch catches were "D'Angelo-esque" and were nothing short of miraculous. He has sincerely proven that a 300 pound man can catch the ball over faster quicker defenders (and as he says "I might be the fastest in Novaffl) gives rise to the proposition as a possibility. I still doubt it though. Maybe in the top 50 ok Grove? Cackle. It was interesting to note, that the Ferg man himself was so impressed, he was talking about Grove taking his Bombers squad into the Ferg league. As long as it doesn't conflict with Saturdays in early April Grove, right, you hear me man? Remember where you came from.

Groves', catches are one for Novaffl's history and hopefully he becomes part of the Board of Directors in Nova this year. Dejesus (Zues) added invaluable help to the receiver corps as well as defense. Similarly, the always provocative Coach D played the safety spot and prevented the long ball. Prior coordination using Coach D for Red-Zone offense may have been a good idea, since that is his WR strong point.

Beazy, caught the important long ball TD and I believe playedsolid defense. Andy B, as always was that outlet TE, as well as a perfect ball hiker for the day. Mcgrath, again played a profoundly important role with an end zone catch that was clutch in putting Nova ahead. As usual, the defense thinks they can man-handle him because of his size, much to their own regret when the important ball is caught.

Finally, I apologize I can't comment on the final Hawks player, but he proved he is one of the more dangerous safety/cornerback's in Novaffl. A careful examination of the video posted at the end of this essay will show how he acted as a ocean of H20 on the Ferg All-star's last remaining match. The interception ended the game.

Briefly let's talk about some other defenders. It is a well known fact that Rum and Gene will put fear into any team's heart. Well, they played like warriors from Braveheart attacking every play, on some occasions Bhidd and James would shoot the gap causing havoc in the backfield. Madcap, proved a capable substitute for Gene and Rum, showing pressure on a few plays (for those many Madcap fans in particular, check halfway through the video for Madcap causing the Qb to throw to an ineligible).

Now, what you all have been waiting for, the NOVA-JOEFERGSPORTS video:

While we are at it, lets take about PrimeTime. He was one of the few Ferg players who actually wanted to talk today, as you will see in this video, PrimeTime proves the axiom, that even though he is under 200 pounds, his stats speak volumes regarding his rushing ability. Count this fact. PT had 5 sacks today. Where the hell was the Nova blocking? In the first or second game? Were they tired? Either way, PT showed he is a force. Check out this primetime video here:

Even more important than this, Primetime brings up a good point. How come no one has coordinated with Badboyz or PT's squad to play a true game versus Novaffl. Nova has to take a look in the mirror and seriously evaluate this question. And if Nova does not produce a squad, then these two teams get automatic bragging rights. It's about time we as the people evaluate this issue and wonder what the fuck over? Perhaps it's the Badboyz and Gogetters, or God's gift that Nova should play? Thoughts? Have these teams earned their respective rights to the big game? This writer agrees wholeheartedly.

PT breaks this down and how he feels about being slighted:

PT get your ass on novaffl.com and send an email to me for your interview. Now, on to a brief transition. This poor guy, SIMON was just coming out to play football, and you can see from the interview, what I'm getting at is not to insult Simon, but to put emphasis on an underdeveloped point. JoeFergSports, and specifically Joe Ferg blows the whistle too much. I mean Ferg, take a look in the mirror, did you feel good blowing the whistle for some ticky-tacky calls in the second game? Remember, although you have created a well-organized league, when one blows the whistle as much as you did (the second game) it leads to the general degradation of the competitiveness and fun of the game. Single-handily, I thought you ruined this game, just a little bit and its food for thought, not an attack. You do know rules quite well, but spot-fouls should not be called. Simon held, yeah sure, but Ferg did it effect the play? This guy felt like a sack of dung, all because of your calls - heh I hope this takes away from my caustic interview below.

Finally, I'm going to end this essay to thank the Novaffl intangible, Yang. This guy keeps pickup football alive and organizes football every Saturday - for free, normally at the Polo Grounds, Ohio Drive. He also makes a lot of personal sacrifices and keeps an eye on our equipment and flags. Everyone give a shout out to Yang and whenever you see him ask about this interview, specifically the end.

Also, a honorable mention has to be made to some of these linemen that don't play in the Ferg league or Novaffl league (I don't think) but were kickass line players on both sides of the ball, the guy with a goatee goes by "Johnny" I don't have the other one. Either way, these dudes are as tough as nails and would excel in both leagues. If you two read this, contact me for an interview or as Johnny said, tell me about your Donald Trump business. I'll let you know if it's a farce.

Until, next time, Madcap, mercenary journalist.
