November 11 Patriots Day

Bubba
November 11 is celebrated as Patriots Day. We can all relate to the guys and gals in camouflage or perhaps in dress blues of the United States Marine Corps. We can feel the pride in our young Patriots fighting on the sandpile in th East, enduring 125 degree day after day. These are the obvious Patriots.

This Patriot Day I'd like to remember another unsung group of folks that are equally as important this special day. They are the spouse and children of these uniformed Patriots that give so much to our country.

One such fella is now a Marine. He lays in his bunk without legs and is worried he won't be able to support his family. You see Joe was the son of a Marine and the Grandson of a Marine. Grandma told him some grand stories about his grandpa but he never played catch him since he died at Guadalcanal. Mom told him stories about his proud Dad that died in a rice paddy in 'Nam. His only memory of his Dad was a picture in his dress blues, a flag in a triangle frame with two purple hearts and a silver star pined to the red, white, and blue. His Mom would hold that flag and cry at night when no one was looking...Now his son wants to join the few, the proud, the Marines.

This is three families of Patriots. Women that raised their boys alone with a memory for a Husband and a Dad. Women that learned to play catch and football to raise sons to Love and Honor the country that took their love away. "When the going got tough, the tough got going." Most of the toughest, proudest, were the spouses and children of the Patriots....

Today our country is once again in a dilemma. We have two men running to be our leaders. Neither one understands these Patriots that have pulled our country out of trouble before. Yes it's a new generation of "Rosie the Riveters" that will build the men and women of the future. Along the way they will pull the economy up from the mess the "Men" have made it into again. If you can read this thank a teacher, she/he was a Patriot too. If you can understand the first language of our country thank a Patriot. If you disagree with this, thank that same Patriot...some of them died top make it possible. God Bless our Patriots today and everyday. God Bless America... Mizpah ;-}}>
