The Memphis Zoo presents "Junior Zoo Crew" on November 1st at 10 am to 1pm. Come prepared to get dirty and bring a sack lunch (one that does not require heating or cooling). Learn from the experts on how much fun it is to work for the zoo and get a chance to get up close to a few animals. This is a great learning experience for ages 10 - 12. Admission for members is $30 and nonmembers will pay $40. Call the zoo for more info.
The Memphis Zoo presents "Farm Porch Pastimes" on November 1st at 1:30 pm to 3:30 pm on the porch at the "Once Upon a Farm" exhibit. The exhibit will be focusing on the American Folk Instruments and is included in the admission to the zoo. People from all ages will love to attend.
Ballet Memphis takes over The Orpheum and presents "Firebird and Carnival of the Animals" starting at 8pm on November 1st. This piece is about a Firebird that clutches the key to the happiness of a prince and then you will go on a journey through the animal kingdom looking through a child's eyes. The MidSouth Fairgrounds will be buzzing with the Memphis Roller Derby on November 1st when the Memphis Hustlin' Rollers face off with Green County Roller Girls from Tulsa Oklahoma. It will be in the Youth Building. For ticket info contact the Memphis Roller Derby.
The Germantown Performing Arts Center presents the "Iris Orchestra with Mary Wilson, Soprano Haydn & Mozart" on November 1, 2008 at 8pm. This is a great date night event.
Henry Gross presents "One Hit Wanderer" at the Bartlett Performing Arts at 7pm on November 1st. Tickets are $15.

March of Dimes presents "2008 Memphis Signature Chefs" on November 2. Some of the finest Chefs in Memphis will be paying tribute to Culinary distinction. While you are enjoying the food you can bid on silent and live auctions for a great cause. It starts at 5pm and if you are interested in participating please check the March of Dimes website to inquire about tickets.

Memphis Youth Symphony will be performing on November 2 at Bartlett Arts and Conference Center and it starts at 3pm. The symphony will be under the direction of Maestro Douglas R. Morrison. Tickets are $7.50.
The University of Memphis presents The U of M Gospel Choir lead by Todd Allen on November 2, 2008 at 4pm. The Choir is made up of 40 singers that showcase gospel, both contemporary and traditional. It is a free concert in the Harris Building on campus.

The University of Memphis presents pianist Kevin Richmond on November 3rd at 7:30pm at the Harris Building on campus. Concert is free.

The University of Memphis presents "Southern Comfort Jazz Orchestra" on November 4th in the Harris Building at 7:30pm. They will be showcasing jazz orchestra music of the past 100 years. The concert has a general admission of $10.

Do you like a good murder mystery? You do, why don't you come and participate in the Murder Mystery Mayhem at the Memphis Zoo on November 5th at 7pm. It is a 3 hour event where you look for clues to see who did it. This is, however, a members only event.

The University of Memphis presents "Sound Fusion" on November 6 at 7:30pm at the Harris Building. General admission is $8. They will be playing music that is from 1940s to the 1990s.

The University of Memphis presents "Ceruti String Quartet" on November 7 at 7:30pm and the concert is free. If you love the violin this is a great concert for you.
Memphis River Kings take on the Rocky Mountain Rage at the Desoto Civic Center.
The Children's Museum is holding "Family Night" on November 7th at 5pm to 8pm. There will be a movie that starts at 6:15pm for the family to enjoy. All is included in general museum admission.
The Orpheum Theatre presents "Swimmy, Fredrick, Inch By Inch" on November 7th. Leo Lionni Caldecott tells the tale of Swimmy the fish, Fredrick the mouse, and Inch By Inch (inchworm). This is a great family event that starts at 6pm. Check with the box office for ticket info.
The Memphis Symphony will be at the Buchman Performing Fine Arts Center while Michael Detroit narrates "A Trip Across the Pond". It starts at 8pm on November 7th.

The Memphis Zoo presents "The Winter Wildlife Snooze" on November 8th at 7pm to 9am the next morning. Bring your own sleeping bag and pillow and get to go on a moonlight tour through the zoo and see how the animals have adapted to the cold temps. There will be fun games for the kids to take part in. Enjoy a bedtime snack and a continental breakfast in the morning. Minimum age is 6 years old. Call or check the zoo website for more info.
The U of M goes on search to find some soloist for the U of M Spring Orchestra. You can come and hear the auditions and it is free in the Harris Building and starts at 1:30pm on November 8th.
The U of M presents Contemporary Chamber Players at 7:30pm. They will be performing John Harbison's Mirabai songs.
Jesse Cook will be performing at the Bartlett Performing Arts and Conference on November 8th at 8pm. Tickets are $20.

The U of M Singers and Chamber Choir will be performing at Idlewild Presbyterian Church at 4pm on November 9th and is free.
The 33rd Annual Hernando Christmas Open House is back again on Main Street on November 9th . It starts at 1pm and ends at 5pm. Let them get you in the holiday mood. Bring the kids for pictures with Santa and get the start on your Christmas shopping. There also be carolers singing holiday music.
The U of M Collegiate Choir performs at the Harris Building and it is free starting at 7:30pm.

The Memphis Symphony will be at the Cannon Center for the performing Arts on November 15th performing "For Ella with Patti Austin" and it starts at 8 pm. They will be joined by Patti Austin while she performs songs that Ella Fitzgerald loved.
The Orpheum is hosting their "30th Annual Auction Gala" that kicks off at 6:30pm. There will be entertainment, food, a bar, and a live and silent auction for over $450,000 worth of merchandise. Check out the box office for more details.
