Recognizing Five Outstanding New Contributors

Y! Jelena
Congratulations to our Rising Stars for November, 2010! These writers deserve recognition for acclimating quickly to a new writing website and producing great content on a wide variety of topics. This month's group of Rising Stars is especially diverse in the breadth of their knowledge and experience, ranging from politics to fashion to science to music and more. Please congratulate the winners on their success!

Rising Stars for November 2010

Lauren C. Francis is a fashion publicist working on making a name for herself by writing and speaking about fashion, music, relationships, and more. She's also an advocate for victims of domestic violence. Lauren has reached Clout 6 with 47 pieces of content and nearly 19,000 page views since joining us in October, 2010. Check out Lauren's interview with Lathleen Ade-Brown for an interesting view of celebrity and hip-hop journalism.

Kathleen Noble joined us in September, 2010 and has also reached Clout 6, with over 31,000 page views across 43 pieces of content. She's a retired science teacher who enjoys writing about politics, health, travel, products, and technology. Kathleen is also a former Catholic nun! She shares insights from those experiences in her content, along with the wisdom that comes of being a mother and grandmother. Anyone who's part of a blended family will empathize with both the joy and the pain Kathleen shares in her story about becoming a grandmother by marriage.

John DeRonde became a Yahoo! contributor this August and has specialized in news, politics, and sports content. He's already been published repeatedly on Yahoo! News and Yahoo! Sports. On Associated Content, he's earned a Clout 6 medallion with 28 pieces of content and almost 33,000 page views. Get a taste of John's unique perspective on politics with his opinion piece, "Could Westboro Baptist Church Facilitate First Amendment Change?"

Olivia Jackson is climbing rapidly up the clout ladder since joining us in October 2010. She's already at Clout 7 and has earned a Hot 500 badge, with over 59,000 page views distributed across 65 pieces of content. As a paralegal, former model, and a make-up consultant, Olivia is hardly the stereotypical sports journalist, but she stands out for consistently smart and entertaining coverage of the Pittsburgh Steelers. She's been published on Yahoo! News and Yahoo! Sports. If you're looking for a stylish New Year's resolution, check out Olivia's three suggested fashion resolutions for 2011.

Leanne Canirs is a teacher and veterinary assistant who joined us this August. She's made her way to Clout 7 with 81 pieces of content and almost 29,000 page views. Leanne likes to write about parenting, pets, technology, news, and education, among other topic areas.
