November 3rd is Housewife Day

All around the United States, there are still women who stay at home, do chores, and raise children. Rarely are they appreciated. Those women who are mothers get a bit of appreciation on Mothers' Day, but women who are not mothers really do not get any appreciation.

November 3 is the time to celebrate these wonderful women. It is housewives' day.

Housewives day was created to recognize the importance of stay-at-home moms and wives. Sometimes the holiday is referred to as "Retro Housewives Day" because of today's society that requires a dual income in order for a family to live comfortably.

So, how can this day be celebrated?

Do not make the woman do her normal chores.

If a mom, see if the dad can get the day off of work to take care of any young children. Perhaps for just one day the children could be brought to a daycare and the mom could pamper herself with whatever she'd like. She could go shopping. She could go to a spa. She could just go out and watch a movie. Let the mother decide on how she wants to spoil herself.

You can always take the woman out to eat. It is a nice gesture. There will be no meal that needs to be cooked and no dishes that need to be washed. However, an even nicer gesture is actually cooking dinner and washing the dishes while she gets to relax. This shows willingness to do those things that are typically assigned to the role of "housewife."

Clean the house, too. This is another thing housewives always have to do. It is a tiresome job and requires a lot of energy. Use this holiday to show appreciation by cleaning the house and keeping it clean. Do not just clean up a few items. Actually dust and vacuum the place.

Do the laundry. Do not just do your own laundry. Do the laundry of everybody who lives in the house. Do not make the woman do it. Actually put clothes in laundry baskets and fold them. If you can, but the clothes away in dressers. However, at least leave children's clothes folded in baskets in their rooms to be put away.

Of course, get her a gift. Do not just buy anything for her. Find something she likes. If she really loves jewelry, then that is a good gift for her. However, if that is not her style, do not go buy her jewelry. Get her a gift that will make her happy because of her interests. Has she been hinting that she wants a new book from a certain author? Get her that book. Does she collect a certain type of stuffed animal? Get her one to add to her collection.
