Bridget Ilene Delaney
On November 4, everybody should become interested in Egyptian history. It is King Tut Day! King Tut Day was created in order to celebrate the anniversary of the discovery of King Tutankhamen's tomb. It was discover on November 4, 1922. The tomb was discovered in Egypt's Valley of the Kings. The amazing part about the discovery is that the tomb was nearly in tact.

Tutankhamen's rule laste a short nine years from 1333 B.C. to 1324 B.C. It is not certain how he died. Murder and an innocent accidental death are the two theories. So, just how is King Tut day celebrated?

Spend Time Reading Egyptian History

Read Egyptian history. Start with reading about King Tutankhamen since it is King Tut Day. Read about other Egyptian kings. Find out about the pyramids and the theories on how they were made.

Research Conspiracy Theories about the Pyramids

Many people believe that there is no way that the ancient Egyptian people could have built the pyramids by themselves. They have many theories ranging from odd super strength powers to aliens about how the pyramids were made. Research these. Perhaps decided on which ones seem plausible and which ones seem way too far fetched.

Make Your Own Pyramid

Get a cardboard box and cut out four triangles of the same size. Tape or glue them together at the edges. Decorate the pyramid to look old or to be designed like a fancy tomb with jewels and treasures. Make many different size pyramids and make a fictional Egyptian graveyard or pretend to have found buried treasure in them. Let children play "treasure hunt" with these pyramids.

Create Stories about Fictional Egyptians

Create stories about Egyptians that lived in the time of King Tutankhamen. Decided what they did every day. Write about what young Egyptian children did or what the adults did. Write about a fictional Egyptian king. Was he fair and just or was he evil and mean? How did this affect Egypt. Share the stories with others. Read them aloud. Print them out and pass out the papers. Publish them online.

Play Pyramid

Play the card game known as pyramid. Today is a good excuse as any to play this game. If you do not really like Pyramid, play the game called TriPeaks. If you do not like card games, you can play a word game called Sandscript. Whatever game you play, make sure that it has a bit of an Egyptian theme.
