'Now About that Hidden Genius Theory of Mine'

A Christian Point of View in the Area of "Hidden Genius"

Ken Lyons
After writing the past articles about "Hidden Genius and Public Schools" and "How to Determine Hidden Genius," I looked back and thought to myself, you know, the average person obviously cannot do it alone. When we help kids reach a specific potential, and lead them to numerous other potential activities besides just the one thing, they are helped by someone who has either been there, or who are dealing with the same situation currently. Children are also helped by those who are older than them or with a higher authority.

Certainly hope that those who read the articles understand that it is merely a personal theory, that sometimes we do not bother paying attention to what we are doing or what others are doing to realize, 'wow…what a talent.' With friends and family of mine, I see some of the usual day to day activities they participate in, and then I see other times when they are doing something that I never would've thought possible…whether it was a unique style or idea that has been performed and adopted.

Such a thought interests me, because even as a Christian, it is very, very important to understand that I didn't get to where I am today by my own will, but God and Christ!!

It is also very important to understand that there are family members and friends around me that have helped me to reach my potential, and to discover the "hidden genius" features that have been in me for so long; those talents or abilities that have helped me to become as successful as I am today. And yet, I am still not done yet, and people have not stopped helping me, encouraging me, constructively criticizing me and my work and so on. And at the same time, people have not stopped praying for me as I do for them, wishing me the greatest of success as I do for them, and the list goes on.

Bottom line, we cannot reach our greatest potential in life through our own intellectual strides, but through God and Christ, and those who lead a life reflecting such a fact.

Even in Proverbs 16:9, I find such a verse very interesting…"In his heart a man plans his course, but the Lord determines his steps(NIV)."

This verse has a strong meaning for my own life and my own past situations, and it is a constant reminder to me that no matter what I do or where I go, my intellect is not the factor that made me the man that I am today, and it is not the only thing that brought me this far, but at the end of the day it is God and Christ!! Some are lucky to be able to find out what they are called to do in life, but it is truly a blessing to have good, honest, loving and caring individuals to help you along the way in reaching your potential and then some!! Just pure intelligence and creativity cannot do that for you, because you have to remember the SOURCE of where it comes from! It doesn't come from man obviously.

Whether you're a Christian or not, believe that there is divine intervention in your daily footsteps, and in your talents and abilities that could be your "hidden genius," and it's the kind of intervention that man alone cannot perform.
