NOW YOU KNOW

Kathryn Neff Perry
My sister always makes fun of me because I "forget" things.
I was sitting in front of the post office and couldn't remember where I was going next.
I walk out in the kitchen, open the refrigerator, stand there for a few seconds then remember I came to the kitchen to get the scissors.
I walk into the family room and just stand there.
My kids remind me, "a mind is a terrible thing to waste".
I go to the grocery store with a list (a list that took several days to write), only to discover I can't find the list.
I try to buy clothes for my son, but I can't remember the sizes.
I open my mouth to speak and nothing comes out.
My husband and I watched a silly movie that Steve Martin was in and when the phone books came out he called his mother because he was so excited that his name was in the book. I was just about that excited about a little return address stamp I ordered. I was expecting the office supply store to call everyday but they didn't.
Last night my husband handed me the stamp. Your sister has had this for sometime, she just forgot to tell you.
When I got home I called my sister. She was hysterical, "You know how much that little stamp meant to me," I said.
"Well," she began, "remember last week when I called you almost everyday and told you I had something to tell you, but I couldn't remember what it was---- "Now you know!"
