The Daily Caller's Jim Treacher notes that Sarah Palin is now being accused of gay bashing.
The new manufactured controversy started when Sarah Palin reacted to the Vanity Fair hit piece on the Sean Hannity radio show.
"Impotent, limp and gutless reporters take anonymous sources and cite them as being factual references. It just slays me because it's so absolutely clear what the state of yellow journalism is today that they would take these anonymous sources as fact."
My reaction when hearing this is that this is one lady one should not cross, ever. The reaction of a gay newspaper, the Advocate, was somewhat different.
"Is Sarah Palin using code words to slam gay journalist Michael Joseph Gross, a frequent Advocate contributor who wrote the much-buzzed-about profile of the former Vice Presidential nominee in this month's Vanity Fair?
"Palin didn't mention Gross by name while talking Thursday on Sean Hannity's WABC radio show, but she seemed to be referring to the article - and pointedly used emasculating words that have long been used as euphemisms for homosexuality - when she called reporters who publish 'rumors' about her 'impotent,' "limp,' and 'gutless.'"
There are a number of problems with this analysis.
First, one rather doubts that Sarah Palin knows nor cares that Michael Gross is gay. The point Palin was making was the Gross, a man, was assaulting a lady, Palin, and not doing an effective job of it. Imagine whatever prurient imagery you would like. Palin was not attacking Gross's sexual preference. She was attacking his writing ability, his journalistic ethics, and his virility, the last especially treasured by any man no matter who or what he prefers to sleep with.
The second problem is something that Treacher points out.
"Now, everybody knows I love The Advocate (which I read for the articles), but if you're gay and you think "impotent" and "limp" are words that people use to describe your sexual activity, well... maybe you guys aren't having as much fun as we all thought."
Indeed, one has never heard of the words "impotent" or "limp" used as calumnies by the homophobic. It therefore seems to be reaching past the boundaries of common sense that Sarah Palin was using "code words." The problem is that this is a code that most people are not aware of until some hypersensitive writer tries to manufacture it.
But that's not the point. The point is that we must hate Sarah Palin, no matter what, no matter how-er-limp the excuse.

Post a Comment"Assaulting a lady" Really? That's a little over the top. The fact of the matter is - gay or not - she is making sexual references. Not very dignified for one who preaches christian family values. If she lived true christian values she would have more credibility. Isn't the goal of Christians to be Christ like?
