Now I understand
For all the times you told me
Look both ways before crossing the street
Always wear your seatbelt
Never talk to strangers
Call if you are going to be late
Be a leader not a follower
Treat others with respect
I heard but never listened
I knew but never remembered
I followed but never really lead
I understood but not really
Until the day I heard myself say
Look both ways before crossing the street
Always wear your seatbelt
Never talk to strangers
Call if you are going to be late
Be a leader not a follower
Treat others with respect
To my own child
And now I understand

I love everything in print and showing my three children the joys as well. I believe that writing should be done whether you wish to gain from it or not as a way to express yourself. View profile

Very lovely tribute to your mother ! Very nice.
Funny how my perspective changed ;) She became a model of patience to me.
I never appreciated my mother more than I did after I became a mother myself. I thought of her as a rather impatient person and then...oops! I had a child and I wondered where my mother found all the patience she actually did have.
What a sweet tribute to your mother.
Yep, and I've always heard "You pay for your raising when you raise your own" Makes you stop and think about all the things you did when younger that you really hope your own child doesn't do!
Thanks Everyone!
I can relate to that as well... :-)
Such a wonderful job, thanks!!!!!!!!!
As a daughter and a mother, I can so relate. What a beautiful message. It should be on greeting cards next Mother's Day from Hallmark next Mother's Day.
