Nowhere - A Psychedelic Film by Gregg Araki

Funsponge
Nowhere is like a psychedelic journey into madness. The movie follows the lives of a unique group of 20-year-olds living in Los Angeles. The movie deals with sex, rape, drugs, suicide, homosexuality and extraterrestrial beings. The movie starts off with the main character masturbating in the shower. The main character's name is Dark. He is played by James Duval. He is not your average 20 something UCLA film student. He is full of teen angst and confusion. He says in the movie that he wants to record his death because he had a premonition that he is going to die soon. So he carries his camcorder everywhere he goes. He is also carrying his camcorder around so he could get footage of an extraterrestrial being that is killing people.

Now Dark's weirdness is leveled out by his friends. His main squeeze is Mel. She is played by Rachel True. She is a free spirited young girl. She thinks she should have sex with everybody while she is still young. But Dark wants her all to himself. He has to share Mel with her girlfriend Lucifer. She is played by Kathleen Robertson. Lucifer is a purple haired angry lesbian. She hates Dark and insults him every chance she gets. She doesn't like the idea of sharing Mel either. Dark is in love with Mel but he fantasizes about his shy and awkward classmate Montgomery. Montgomery is sort of a loner. His only friend is Alyssa who rambles on to him about the end of the world. She is played by the beautiful Jordan Ladd. She also has an older boyfriend named Elvis, who is completely psychotic. Alyssa's best friends are Dingbat and Egg. Alyssa, Dingbat, and Egg have eating disorders. Dingbat is played by Christina Applegate. Her character is the complete opposite of Kelly on Married with Children. Dingbat is an awkward and kind of nerdy youth. She has a crush on Ducky who is Egg's brother. Egg is a shy but a pretty young girl. She meets a teen idol who befriends and then betrays her. The other characters in the movie is Mel's younger brother Zero, his blonde girlfriend Zoe, Cowboy, his boyfriend and band mate Bart, Alyssa's twin brother Shad, his girlfriend Lilith, the local drug dealer Handjob and his S&M friends Kris and Kozy. The movie is also full of scary drag queens, Satanic gang members, and several cameos by B list celebrities. Shannen Doherty, Traci Lords, Mena Suvari, Beverly D'Angelo, John Ritter, Rose McGowan, Ryan Phillippe, Heather Graham, Debi Mazar, and Jeremy Jordan rounds up the cast. All the characters are trying to get to the party of the year.

This movie is original and worth watching. If you see this movie, you have to get the soundtrack. The soundtrack has all the hit 90's bands like Hole, Filter, Sonic Youth, Blur, Curve, The Verve, Nine Inch Nails, Portishead, Radiohead, and 311. Marilyn Manson's song Kiddie Grinder and The The's song Love is Stronger Than Death is also on the soundtrack. So watch this movie and buy the soundtrack. You can watch this movie on the IFC channel. Or you can rent it at your local Blockbuster today.

Nowhere is the third film in a trilogy by Gregg Araki.
Many people described this film like "90210 on Acid."
The Living End and The Doom Generation completes the trilogy.
