Sometimes you will find that patients, doctors, and other nurses will depend on you regularly for a helping hand. You must be able to rely on your training, while inventing techniques that will help you do your job more efficiently. A good nurse is an asset that no doctor, clinic, or institution can do without, since they are the backbone of the medical field. Everyone relies on nurses, so you must be flexible and able to meet a challenge head on.
All nurses should be able to control their emotions around people that are traumatized, angry, or ill. Most families will need a sympathetic and compassionate nurse to help their loved ones, during a patient's treatment. Plus, doctors will need nurses to keep charts, give medicine, and assist in procedures that may save a patient's life. However, due to a shortage in qualified nurses, many employers will compete for a qualified nurse.
Each nurse must be able to give the upmost care, while working long hours and dealing with several patients at one time. No machine can replace a skilled nurse, since they have many jobs that require a human touch. A good nurse will go out of their way to make a patient feel more comfortable during their visit or stay. Therefore, a successful nurse is one, which goes above and beyond to help a patient or a member of their healthcare team.
