Nuss Dessert Hazelnut Creme Filled Biscuits (Cookies) by Bahlsen - Product Review

Annette Robbins
When we retired five years ago and relocated south, I left behind many pleasant memories; one of which was the memory of a delicious, light, pastry biscuit (cookie) called Nuss Dessert. For five years, I pined over my loss of not finding this delicious biscuit on the shelves. Finally, I had something akin to an epiphany and believed I had been separated from my beloved confectionery treat long enough! I decided to take action and visited amazon.com to see if I could order the product through their website. Wonder of wonders, Nuss Dessert creme filled hazelnut biscuits were available. Well, I was in a state of euphoria and ordered a carton containing 12 boxes. I cared not about shipping and handling which was not exorbitant. I would soon be reunited with one of my favorite cookies. I was beyond delighted. (The package lists the product as a hazelnut biscuit with creme filling; we would refer to it as a cookie. It is not a biscuit as we commonly refer to a biscuit in this country).

Nuss Dessert hazelnut biscuits with creme filling is made by Bahlsen, a German company which has been in existence since 1889. The company makes a variety of baked items but the Nuss Dessert hazelnut creme filled cookie is one of my favorites. Nuss Dessert Hazelnut biscuits with creme filling is packaged in a blue rectangular box containing 12 oval shaped cookies with a crisscross design on the surface of the top cookie. Between the top and bottom oval shaped cookie is a delicious creme filling--not too sweet and not too bland. The package has a picture of the hazelnut creme filled cookies pictured alongside split hazelnuts along with the Bahlsen logo prominently displayed on each panel of the box. The cookies are packaged two in a compartment in a 6 compartment insert for a total of 12 cookies in each 4.4 oz package.

Taste
The taste of the Nuss Dessert Hazelnut cookie with creme filling is light, delicate and tasty. I would unhesitatingly serve this cookie to guests. It makes a pretty and attractive presentation when placed on a dish with a doily or colorful napkin. It is a pleasant, light ending to a meal without the feeling of a heavy dessert.

Before we moved, we purchased Nuss Dessert Hazelnut Cookies with creme filling at Wegman's supermarket. If you live in an area where Wegman's is located, then you are indeed fortunate. I have not seen this product in my local supermarkets. Therefore, I am glad I can order them through www.amazon.com. I had considered asking family and friends to purchase these cookies and bring them with them when they visited us. Thankfully, I do not have to use that option. You can be sure that when we do visit our hometown, I will stock up on Bahlsen's Nuss Dessert hazelnut cookies. I highly recommend that you try Nuss Dessert Hazelnut Cookies with creme filling for a delightful, delectable taste treat. I'm sold for life! If you cannot find the Nuss Dessert Hazelnut Cookies on your local supermarket shelves, consider ordering through amazon.com. I was satisfied with the entire transaction and the product arrived undamaged. Thanks, Annette. There's nothing like food memories. Something tells me the Dekalb Farmers Market in Decatur, GA, may carry this item. You may want to check it out and see, or have someone who loves you do it.
