Nut Gift Baskets Are an Easy Gift Giving Solution

Finding new gift giving ideas can become difficult after awhile. I mean, you can only give a tie or perfume so many times before you need to come up with something different. This is where a nut gift basket may be a great solution.

I discovered this type of gift basket from my mother. A few years back she became stumped over what to give her friends as a gift. It didn't matter if it was Christmas, Mothers Day or a birthday; she was having problems finding something new and useful to give. One day she was going through a gift catalog and stumbled across some very nice looking nut baskets. Unlike a food basket that can grow stale in a hurry, nuts tend to last quite a long time, so you won't be worrying about having to eat it quickly.

Anyway, this gave my mother a great idea; instead of spending a lot of money on buying a nut gift basket from a catalog or store and spending a lot of extra money, why not make your own? Not only will it save money on the basket itself, but you also save on shipping. Ordering from a catalog means you also have to pay shipping and handling costs along with it.

She went to Michael's and bought a few baskets that were on clearance. You can almost always find some great bargains if you look good. The baskets were of medium size and would hold plenty of various nuts. Next, she went to the farmers market in our town and bought several different kinds of nuts. You can use your imagination here, whether it is peanuts, cashews, almonds, pecans, or a host of other choices. You get the picture. Just have some fun with it.

Mom then bought some colorful cellophane wrap and ribbon and took everything back home to assemble together. Now this is the easy part. Simply bag up a variety of nuts in separate baggies and place them in the cellophane wrapped basket. You can then tie up the cellophane with a colored ribbon and add a bow if you wish. You end up having a beautiful nut gift basket in a matter of minutes.

If you like you could even add in a nice looking candle or two. The reason I took such a liking to nut gift baskets was due to the fact that giving food or holiday cookies may not be appropriate for everyone. For those who are diabetic, cookies may not be a healthy gift giving choice for obvious reasons. Nuts are safe for nearly everyone, not to mention how much quicker it is to put together.

So, if you are running into problems thinking of what to give that special friend for any occasion, consider a nut gift basket. It may be a great solution.
