The good ole peanut butter sandwich: If your children love peanut butter, then use natural organic peanut butter to make delicious sandwiches on a whole wheat bread or crackers will be a starting point. Instead of jelly, you can try honey with the peanut butter and add sliced fruits such as bananas or strawberries. Be creative and use seasonal fruits that your child loves.
Veggie and Chicken Wraps: I am a big fan of wraps. Anything wrapped in tortilla such as chicken with rice and vegetable, chicken, beef and beans, fresh vegetables with avocado and chicken or turkey, or any variation of items wrapped in tortilla. Roll the tortilla and slice into several small rolls for easy pick up at school. You child may enjoy this with his or her favorite salad dressing (like ranch). This keeps them from thinking they have to take cold sandwiches everyday.
Find other recipes of our favorite dish or homemade meals and use the leftover for next day lunch. Be creative and have fun making healthy meals for your kids.
For snacks, cut up their favorite fruits such as apples, bananas, grapes or strawberries. Seasonal fruits tend to be cheaper so be on the look out for good deals.
Frozen yogurt is also a favorite of many kids, and it is another way to add variety to just fruits and vegetables. Favorite graham crackers will also serve, with natural peanut butter on it as well.
For drinks, keep it all natural. 100% juice is best for it has none of those artificial flavors. You definitely don't want to pack soda in the brown bag or you're going to end up super hyperactive kids and several calls from the teachers.
