The GT 220 is basically a re-named 9500 GT, and or 9600 GT. The 9600 GT has been found to perform better in some games than the GT 220. Also, with 1 GB of GDDR3 memory, the GT 220 is going to perform overall better in most DX10 games. This video card does not support DX11 (DirectX11). And also, if you guys are looking to upgrade to Windows 7, by Microsoft, the GT 220 was specifically made for Windows 7! So you will get rich performance with Windows 7, and the GT 220. The GT 220 is packed with 48 stream processors, and a core clock of 675 mega-hertz! So you can expect your games to run silky-smooth!
This graphics card does pump out some pretty nice frame rate with Call of Cuty 4 by Infinity Ward. Maximum frame rate with everything maxed out at 1280x720 is always a constant 125 FPS (frames per second). Frames per second means how much frame rate your graphics card can render. Now for an editorial scale, for hard core editors and such, you may want to look into the Quadro FX cards made by Nvidia. Although you can turn Geforce cards into Quadro cards by simple driver changes and some Firmware updates!
Whats this? You want to know what kind of benchmarks this video card has for the brand new Modern Warfare 2 by Infinity Ward? Well, today is your lucky day, I have specifically uploaded a video to YouTube of benchmarks for this game! If you would like to see this video, simply copy and paste this link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VMUuu0ABZp4&feature=email.
All in all, the Geforce GT 220 1 GB GDDR3 by Nvidia is a well rounded, medium-high end video card. This video card can be found from $70-120 dollars. Would I reccomend this GPU to a medium end gamer? Yes. Would I recommend this to a high-end user? No, I would go for something a tad better like the GTX 260 by Nvidia.
