The New York Giants are the walking wounded as they prepare to face the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday night. Six players did not participate in the team's Thursday practice. Tom Coughlin gave a few injury updates on Thursday afternoon.
Coughlin said that offensive tackle Shawn Andrews' back "has been stiff and sore before but never to the point where he didn't feel like --- he actually came out and tried to work yesterday. He felt he could work. As long as he was in a two-point stance, he felt he could. But then the smarter move prevailed and we didn't push it any. He was a little bit better this morning. And hopefully he will be a little bit better tomorrow." Coughlin said that Andrews was "day to day."
Tight end Kevin Boss is also dealing with a sore back, but Coughlin expects the TE will practice on Friday.
CB Corey Webster "did something to his toe" as Coughlin explained. He also said that Webster will "hopefully work tomorrow."
The New York offensive line has been a patchwork unit for weeks due to injuries to David Diehl, Adam Koets and Shaun O'Hara. The team's coaching staff has done a good job of working different guys into the o-line, but a significant injury to Shawn Andrews makes the task much more difficult. A 100 percent healthy Kevin Boss and Corey Webster would be ideal against the Eagles, and we should know more about those injuries before the weekend.
