Coughlin Talks Nicks, Osi & Ross

New York Giants head coach Tom Coughlin has been dealing with a slew of injured players since mid-summer. As the Giants prepare to face the Indianapolis Colts on Sunday night, Coughlin spoke about a few players that may or may not be riding the pine pony this weekend. Here's what we know heading into the weekend.

Defensive end Osi Umenyiora has experienced swelling in his knee, and is a game time decision.

Wide receiver Hakeem Nicks injured his ankle during last Sunday's Carolina Panthers-Giants game. Nicks may only have a limited role this weekend, and is also a game time decision. Both Coughlin and Nicks have hinted throughout the week that the young WR is getting better with every day. This could be a smokescreen to cover up a healing Nicks, or proof that the oft-ailing receiver is again less than 100 percent early into the season.

Cornerback Aaron Ross (foot) is "doing better" and, as of the writing of this piece, is expected to start against the Colts on Sunday night.

Linebacker Chase Blackburn's right knee injury will keep him on the sidelines this Sunday.

Tight end Kevin Boss (concussion) is beginning to improve. As reported earlier this week, Boss will not play when the Giants face the Colts. He is a "maybe" for next week's contest.

The Aaron Ross news is the highlight of this story for New York Giants fans. The secondary needs a healthy Ross going up against arguably the best quarterback in the NFL. Even with him, things could get rough for New York DBs on Sunday night.
