NY Giants David Diehl, Shaun O'Hara Participate in NFL Broadcast Boot Camp
Diehl, O'Hara Plan for Life After the NFL
You may be seeing David Diehl and Shaun O'Hara on TV on Sunday afternoons for many more years to come.
The NFL Labor website as well as Pro Football Talk have confirmed that New York Giants players David Diehl and Shaun O"Hara will be participating in the NFL Broadcast Boot Camp program. The "Boot Camp," which takes place June 21-24, will help prepare both current and former NFL players for potential on screen and behind the scenes careers in broadcasting. According to the NFL Labor News website, 28 of the 65 players that have participated in the NFL Broadcast Boot Camp between 2007 and 2009 have received broadcasting jobs after participating in the program.
The Pro Football Talk website quotes NFL Vice President of Labor Policy and Player Development Adolpho Birch as saying "We continue to look for ways to help players develop skills to enhance their NFL and post-NFL careers. Many of last year's participants used this program as a career springboard and two have returned to help this year's class."
David Diehl and Shaun O'Hara aren't the only individuals affiliated with the New York Giants to participate in the 2010 NFL Broadcast Boot Camp. Giants announcer Bob Papa will be a part of the program's faculty.
Whether it's benefits for retired NFL players or a broadcast boot camp, the league does a very good job of taking care of players once their playing days are over. Stories like these are always nice to read, as things weren't always this good for retired NFL players.
