The New York Giants will host more than just the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday, November 14. The team and a local supermarket chain will also host a food drive.

The Giants, along with Stop & Shop, will host the team's fourteenth annual food drive this Sunday. The drive will take place before the Giants and Cowboys kick off. Canned and non-perishable food items can be dropped off at any FoodBank truck that will be located at the West and Pepsi gates at the New Meadowlands Stadium. All food items that are collected will be sent to the Community FoodBank of New Jersey.

Allison Stangeby, Director of Community Relations for the New York Giants, was quoted as saying "The Giants are proud to join with our partners at Stop & Shop to host this week's food drive at such an important time for the Community FoodBank of New Jersey. Each year, our fans show why they are the best in the league, and make supporting their neighbors part of their gameday experience."

No specific food items have been requested, but the need for canned and non-perishable items has been stressed by the Community FoodBank. 2010 has been a record year for food distribution and, according to Kathleen DiChiara, President and CEO of the Community FoodBank of New Jersey, "still it is not enough. The need continues to rise."

Numerous organizations around the country host food and toy drives during the holiday season. If you've been looking for a way to help out and you're on your way to the Meadowlands this Sunday, remember to bring a food item or two (or more) with you.
