NY Giants QB Eli Manning Says Roster on Same Page

New York Giants players such as Antrel Rolle and Brandon Jacobs have recently voiced their displeasure with the team's coaching staff and lack of leadership. Quarterback Eli Manning says the roster is committed to winning.

"I believe everyone is on the same page," Manning stated on Wednesday. "Everyone knows what we're capable of doing and what we need to do to win, what our game plan is. We have had good practices. I think we have done things well and made corrections. We've been responsible to each other and committed, and we have to go out there on Sundays and play better football."

Manning disagrees with Rolle's comments about the lack of leadership in the Giants' locker room and team huddles, saying "I think we have good leadership on this team. I think guys like myself, Justin Tuck, Chase Blackburn, or the offensive line or anyone who has been here, or even Antrel himself. We have great leaders, and guys who are committed to winning and doing the right things. Sometimes you're going to have a loss, and you can't start blaming things and making excuses right now. We have a long season, and we have to get back to just playing football."

Manning, the team's offensive captain, is going to be a vital part of the Giants moving on from these off-the-field distractions. The QB did his part in starting this process, saying "Now, it's about playing football. You can do all the talking, you just have to learn. We have been through this in the past. It doesn't matter what you say to the media or making a complaint. It's not going to fix anything. If you have problems, keep it within the team and say it to the captains and the coaches. We got beat on Sunday and that's hard, but it's not what you say after. It's how you get back up and respond the next week, and how you go back out there on Sunday and play."

Anybody who doesn't think Eli Manning was frustrated and angry after Sunday night's humiliation in Indianapolis certainly doesn't know Eli Manning. The difference between Manning and others is that Eli knows where and when to vent certain frustrations. Expect no more of these distractions between now and Sunday afternoon. It will be interesting to see how the roster reacts on Monday, however, if the Titans take the Giants down this weekend.
