No Serious Injury to Nicks' Knee

New York Giants fans everywhere can breathe normal. Hakeem Nicks is going to be OK.

Mike Garafolo of the Star-Ledger and various other sources are reporting that two different MRIs and a team physical revealed no serious injury to Hakeem Nicks' right knee. Nicks injured the knee near the end of Tuesday's team practice in Albany, NY. Nicks, who has also been battling an injured toe as of late, could be back on the practice field as early as Thursday. It is also possible that the two injuries could keep Nicks sidelined for the rest of the week.

This is without question the best news the Giants have received this summer. When Nicks hyperextended his knee on Tuesday evening, Giants fans on websites such as Twitter and Facebook immediately began reliving the Domenik Hixon knee injury, one that cost Hixon the entire 2010 NFL season. As much of a fan favorite as Hixon is, Nicks is a much more important piece of the Giants offense. Losing Nicks would be a serious blow to the Giants passing game with just a month to go before the start of the 2010 NFL regular season.

Depending on the health of both Nicks and fellow wide receiver Mario Manningham, second year WR Ramses Barden may see a few more reps during Thursday and Friday practices. Nicks is expected to be back in Albany tonight but it will not be known if he will participate in practice until tomorrow morning.

Good to hear. Be interesting to see if Eli can continue improving as a QB. He's been getting better every year the past few.
