New York Giants wide receiver Hakeem Nicks is feeling fine and will be involved in the team's Thursday night practice. Nicks never doubted that he was OK all along.
"I didn't think that there was anything wrong with it but it was something I wanted to get checked out because for that slight second I felt a little something but I felt like I was fine and I was relieved when the results came back," Nicks said on Thursday."I just came down a little bit wrong, hyperextended [my knee] a little bit, but I won't be missing any time. I'll be back out there this afternoon."
All of this isn't to suggest that Nicks is taking the situation lightly. The second year wide receiver realizes things could have gone much differently. "I'm very relieved because on film (the injury) looked a lot worse but I'm just blessed and happy to still be out here," Nicks stated.
Nicks explained that he felt "fine" after he walked off the injury, but the Giants forced him to take the cart off the field as a precaution.
Nicks will only be participating in one-a-days for the rest of this week. "Two-a-days all next week" is what Nicks expects once this week is finished.
Hakeem Nicks will likely be quarterback Eli Manning's second favorite target throughout the 2010 NFL season. Nicks looked very good during his rookie year but he's also missed quite a bit of time during the spring and summer due to injuries. He is now anxious for more reps, saying "going into our second week of camp I'm going to try to pick it up a lot more and I just want to continue to do better. "
