NYC Discount Stores Guide

I have been known among my friends as the source to go to ask where to get great discounts in NYC. Now let me share with you some my favorite's discounts deals.

First, go to Jacks 99 cents World. Their biggest location is at 33 and Broadway. There are three floors. The first floor is where the 99 and slightly above itemsare located. They sell some items like socks, books and bread for just a buck. The other floors sell items that slightly higher. But more expensive food items, from the third floor, are marked down and sold on the first floor. There has been French cheese sold here for 99 cents at this store. A big wedge of French cheese that is great for a party was sold for a just ten dollars. Italian pasta was sold here for 1.99 and I saw the same pasta sold for five bucks elsewhere. Know your items and their prices and you can find a high-quality items for a fraction of the cost.

Speaking of one dollar for the book lovers go visit Book-Off located on 45 and 5th ave where they offer used books and cd for a dollar. The dollar section has a wide range of authors and covers a wide variety of book topics. These books are not unknown authors but well-known authors like Amy Bloom and Nora Roberts. This store also offers other very discounted entertainment items. They also sell Asian comics and movies also. The have occasional sales on their already discounted items. You can sell them some of your old books for profit too. Plus, also there is another Jacks store on the same block and the other Jacks store is near-by at 40th street between 5th and Madison.

The next block on 46th and 5th another 99 cents called 99 Dream sells clothes for a dollar, cakes and drinks and has also a wide selection of food sold in their freezer.

If you hungry at Grand Central terminal Cucina discounts their salad and has a cookie special available after 3 pm. They also have a three course dinner sold for twenty dollars. Sometimes they offer broken cookies for a dollar. The Green Kitchen in the lobby of the Gray bar offer half-price on sandwiches and hot food after 3:30 pm.
The catering restarant, Cipriani, across from the Hyatt Hotel, next to Grand Central Termainal, reduces all their gourmet cakes and hot food at 4:30 pm.

Another great store to go to for discounts is Closeout located in Manhattan and Queens. They recently had jeans sold for ten dollars or less jeans, Jones New York, Kenneth Cole and other designers for prices below twenty dollars and a wide variety of Hanes bras for six dollars. They sell a good amount of clothes sizes big and small. This store also sell food items and purses and totes too. Also on the block of 14th and 5th the discount store next to the New York Sports club also offers discounts on Hanes bras, clothes and food items. The Party City located on this block sells 99 cent balloons.

Another good 99 cent store is located in Brooklyn at Coney Island Ave and Z. This is the only store that still offer all it items 99 cents. They get a lot Jewish themed items and lots of other name brand items for just a buck. Many 99 cent stores reflect of the ethnicty of the neighborhood. They had Organic Valley Milk half-gallon milk for a dollar. If you are visiting this area check some of the Russian stores in Coney Island. There are many gourmet food shops that sell gourmet items for half the price of Manhattan. The fruit stand also offer great discounts like strawberries for a buck. Also, look out for the Annual Street fair the Brooklyn Jubilee where all the locale vendors come out sell their goods

In Brooklyn, at 86th street, there are also great discounts available on fruits. Meat Supreme supermarket offers great discounts on meats and appetizing. You can eat at many Asian bakeries that also dim-sum food items as well as baked goods. The 99 cent store on the cornor of 20th Ave offer many great frozen food items in its massive freezer section.

Just walk along this city's many shopping neighborhoods and see what good food, clothing and other finds you can find. A lot of discounts are found just by exploring our vast city. if you interested in certain ethic food at good prices then visit some ethic neighborhoods. For example, if you love Indian food, Roosevelt Avenue, in Queens is a great source to go for discount Indian spices, and lentils. Afterwards you can eat at a great Indian buffet lunch The Jackson Diner has a great buffet and is rated among NYC best Indian restaurants. Also, a great email I subscribe to called Lost in Translation that highlights great ethic finds in Queens. Also, the Edible magazine series has expanded from just covering Manhattan foods and trends but to covering Brooklyn as well Queens good eats. You don't to subscribe to this magazine because places like Fairway, Whole Foods,Sahadi in Brooklyn, and The Vinegar Factory in Mahattan offer it for free.

I have always loved NYC because it a walking town. So take a walk in a new neighborhood or street and see what you may discover on your own.
