NYC Subway Hero Awarded Heroic Medal

Today, Wesley Autrey was at City Hall in New York City to receive a medal or heroism from the mayor himself for his heroic actions underground in the subway system. As Autrey waited for the subway train, he witnessed a man by the name of Cameron Hollopeter, age 20, fall into the tracks after passing out. With an oncoming rain headed right for the fainted man and death looking certain, Wesley Autrey saved the man's life by risking his own. He grabbed the fainted man and rolled under the station platform where there was barely enough room for the two men to lye down as the train passed them by. Luckily, no one was injured as the fainted man, Cameron Holopeter went to the hospital to recover from passing out.

Autrey's act of heroism was all over the news today as the city became obsessed with this ordinary man who risked his life to save a total stranger. Donald Trump even decided to write him a check for $10,000 as a gesture for doing something extraordinary.

Wesley Autrey is also scheduled to appear on the Letterman "Late Show" and the "Early Show." The Mass Transit Authority which owns the subway system for New York City also gave him a year's worth of free subway rides. The Bronze medal that Wesley Autrey received is the highest medal awarded by New York City and past recipients of the award have included General Douglas MacArthur, Muhammad Ali and Martin Luther king.

The Good Samaritan, Wesley Autrey is from Harlem and is suddenly finding newfound wealth. Harlem is one of the poorest neighborhoods in New York City and Autrey was hovering along the poverty line with his family he needs to support. Donald Trump's check shows the kindness of New Yorkers to help one another out. In fact a 91 year old woman gave a $500 check to Autrey when she heard about his heroism. She gave the check to Donald Trump so that he could give him the money. In addition, Autrey also received an all expenses paid trip to Disney World which he plans on taking his family and young children.

Autrey works as a construction workers and was modest in saying that any New Yorker would have done the same thing to save another person. We can all learn from Wesley Autrey's heroic actions. He is a symbol of courage and bravery for the state of New York and this nation.
