O, the Possibilities

Samantha Hawkins
All sins are possible with men

Only just believe

No error is beyond us

No evil outside our bounds

Every lawless act

You could ever invent

We can realize

Any fallen deed

You could never fathom

We can do without a care

For we possess the potential

To wrong, and to violate

We are inclined to malign, and to curse

Our folly-laden hearts

Are apt to fail us

Our rancid tongues and thoughts

Do us injustice

O, the possibilities

What base and brutal

Practices await our engagement

What careless strings of words

Have yet to wriggle

Its way via cerumen

All the possibilities are endless

Temptation is abundant

Forbidden fruits are ever present

Some hang limply from

Old, secluded trees

Others hang in clusters

Throughout young, public gardens

Our souls sail atop a

Boundless, deep blue

Body of pure misdoing

More often though they drown in

The delusive calm of opportunity
