Oakland Raiders Vs Kansas City Chiefs: Las Vegas Line & Pick Against the Spread

Oakland Raiders Look to Go 6-0 Against AFC West Competition

Todd Jacobs
The Oakland Raiders are playing for an undefeated 6-0 AFC West record at the expense of the Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday January 2nd. This game may hold more meaning for the Oakland Raiders. They have an opportunity to sweep the AFC West by defeating the Kansas City Chiefs in the last game of the season. The Kansas CIty Chiefs have won the AFC West and the Oakland Raiders are playing for pride alone in this game.

Oakland Raiders Defense vs Kansas City Chiefs Offense

The Oakland Raiders defense has been incredibly diverse this season. They have battled through the adjustments of integrating rookies into their defense and overcoming a poor run defense to begin the NFL season. The Oakland Raiders have made key additions through the NFL Draft including Rolando McClain and LaMaar Houston but the key to this defense has been Richard Seymour up front.

The Oakland Raiders pass rush has been menacing all season with Seymour and Houston dishing out the most punishment up front on the Oakland Raiders defensive line. The secondary has been solid as well with Tyvon Branch and Nnamdi Asomugha controlling the deep ball. The Oakland Raiders are only yielding 200 yards per game through the air and they are making NFL offenses tentative to go up top on them.

Matt Cassel and the Kansas City Chiefs offense has done their damage on the ground. Jamaal Charles is one of the best running backs to develop this season in the NFL and Thomas Jones has been a perfect compliment. If these two can establish the run against the Oakland Raiders in this game they will have a strong opportunity to dominate this game.

The Kansas City Chiefs were limited on the ground against the Oakland Raiders in their first game. They rushed for only 85 yards combined. They will most likely put pride aside in this game and give veteran Thomas Jones rest and limit the use of Jamaal Charles. The Oakland Raiders defense has the edge over the Kansas City Chiefs offense.

Oakland Raiders Offense vs Kansas City Chiefs Defense

Jason Campbell had a game to forget against the Kansas City Chiefs in November. Campbell was saved by the spectacular play of Jacoby Ford. Ford had 148 yards receiving and made his case as one of the most exciting NFL players of 2010.

Darren McFadden was held to 89 rushing yards when these two teams first met but McFadden is still going to be a key to the Oakland Raiders offense being established. McFadden has shown no signs of slowing down as the NFL season winds down and if he is healthy entering this game the Oakland Raiders could frustrate the Kansas City Chiefs defense.

The game between these two in November was a defensive battle and the Kansas City Chiefs matched up well. The problem for the Kansas City Chiefs in this match up will be preventing the big play. They allowed too many big plays in their last tilt and the defense will have to play focused. The Kansas City Chiefs defense has allowed an average of 230 yards per game though the air and 110 yards per game on the ground. The Kansas City Chiefs defense and the Oakland Raiders defense are even and neither has an advantage.
