Hot Oatmeal Dinner Rolls are so fluffy and delicious, they will soon be one of your favorite dinner yeast rolls. I have made this recipe many times, it is a favorite of my little sister Rebekah. This wonderful roll goes well with any meal or I like munching on these for a snack with butter and jelly. These oatmeal rolls also make a delightful gift!
Ingredients for Oatmeal Dinner Rolls:
2 cups water
1 cup quick-cooking oats
3 tablespoons butter
1/4 ounce package active dry yeast
1/3 cup warm water, 110 to 115 degree
1/3 cup packed brown sugar
1 tablespoon sugar
1 1/2 teaspoons salt
4 3/4 to 5 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
Directions for making Oatmeal Dinner Rolls:
Step 1: In a medium saucepan, bring water to a boil; add oats and butter.
Step 2: Cook and stir for 1 minute. Remove from the heat; cool to lukewarm.
Step 3: In a large bowl, dissolve yeast in warm water.
Step 4: Add the oat mixture, sugars, salt and 4 cups of flour; beat until smooth.
Step 5: Add enough remaining flour to form a soft dough.
Step 6: Turn dough onto a floured surface; knead until smooth and elastic, about 6-8 minutes.
Step 7: Place dough in a greased bowl, turning once to grease top.
Step 8: Cover and let rise in a warm place until doubled, about 1 hour.
Step 9: Punch dough down; allow to rest for 10 minutes.
Step 10: Shape dough into 18 balls.
Step 11: Place dough balls in two greased 9-in. round baking pans.
Step 12: Cover and let rise until doubled, about 45 minutes.
Step 13 Bake at 350° for 20-25 minutes or until golden brown.
Step 14: Remove rolls from pan to wire racks.
Yield: 1 1/2 dozen.
Tips:
You may double the recipe if you need more servings.
After they have been baked you may freeze them.
Warning:
Make sure you let the rolls rise as directed for a fluffy delicious rolls!
