Obama Administration Caught Lying! Holder Made Decision to Mirandize Christmas Bomber, Not FBI Agents!

Marc Schenker
The Obama Administration has been caught lying (again!) with regards to the question of who decided to mirandize the Christmas Bomber, Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab. Originally, when members of the Obama Administration were testifying before the Senate on Wednesday, FBI Director Mueller claimed that "agents on the ground" made the decision! Yet yesterday during a White House press briefing, intrepid Fox News correspondent Wendell Goler put the question everyone's been dying to know the answer to to White House Press Secretary Robert Gibbs (or, propagandist Gibbs, as Hannity likes to say). When Goler asked him who made the decision to try Abdulmutallab as a criminal suspect, Gibbs finally relented and sheepishly admitted it was the Attorney General. In other words, one Eric Holder.

Covered-up by the Obama-worshipping-and-loving, liberal media, this news is nonetheless important for a few, good reasons. First, this establishes another clear-cut case of the Obama Administration lying to the American people and refusing to level with them in the way they deserve to be. Just a day before Gibbs' sheepish admission, Mueller of the FBI completely contradicted this fact by scapegoating FBI "agents on the ground" as the ones who made the decision! Two, this finally solves the month-long mystery of who-just who-in the Obama Administration gave the insane and now-regrettable order to prosecute the Christmas Bomber as a criminal suspect. This mystery came to a head a couple of days ago when Republican Jeff Sessions confronted the Justice Dept., formally asking them in a letter to identify the official who made the misjudgment. Three, this proves yet again that Eric Holder can't be trusted in the slightest to make sober calls regarding homeland security.

What follows is the excerpt of the transcript from yesterday's White House press briefing. Note in particular how obstructively devious Robert Gibbs is by, first, still trying to elude Wendell Goler's question and refusing to give him a straight answer right off the bat. In fact, it is only on the third try that Gibbs finally-finally!!-drops the BS obstructionism and admits what he should've the first time he heard Goler's question.

Q:...who made the decision to try Abdulmutallab in federal court? Was the president aware of this decision when he began being processed in the legal system?

Mr. Gibbs: Well, again, understand that the decision to try him was handed down in an indictment that I think took place many days afterward. So, yes, all the team was involved in that.

Q: So the decision was made over a period of days. I mean, there was a time between which he was taken into custody on Christmas Day and a time in which the decision was made that -

Mr. Gibbs: Well, understand this, there was a period of time in which he was taken into custody, a period of time in which experienced FBI agents interrogated him, received valuable intelligence from him. He was arraigned at a later period of time, and later than that was indicted.

Q: And who made the decision to try him in federal court? Did the president make that call?

Mr. Gibbs: I believe that decision is made by the Attorney General.

Soooo, there you have it ladies and germs. With Gibbs' sheepish admission, it's clear that it totally contradicts FBI Director Mueller who scapegoated some lowly "agents in the field," as if they would have the authority to make that decision by themselves! Come the heck on!!

This admission also shines a disquieting spotlight back on Holder whose record is just chock-full of questionable and scandalous activity. I suppose we can just chock up yet another Holder shocker in a list that also includes refusing to prosecute Black Panthers committing voter intimidation despite a multitude of evidence; calling the US a nation of cowards on race; and recommending a pardon for fugitive financier Marc Rich, a big-time Clinton donor.

It is getting too popular for the politicians to lie - to us, to their families,...what's next.

    Thanks for the post

Good article, Marc. You have made some important points here.

The truth is our government could care less if terrorists board planes. It suits there agenda just fine.

Great job, Marc...and tnx for the links. Compounding the already amazingly effed up bumbling of letting the guy on a plane by paying 3500 cash for a one-way, no luggage, no warm coat and heading for the D in winter. Incredible that the DNI Blair wasn't informed, nor a bunch of others. Obama needs to fire Holder and Napolitano at a minimum, and move the trials either back to Guantanamo or someplace like Governor's Island (if they insist on criminal trials at all --which they shouldn't).

    Right on Tony!

So...I guess saul's solutions is....accept the lies of the POTUS, which are undermining our national security and ignore the threat terrorists pose. Lemmings are destined to go over the cliff.

First of all, no politician is above lying. Second, this entire Christmas bombing episode has become a ridiculous circus and has become just one more Obama-bashing, fearmongering incident for conservatives to go crazy over. And anyone who actually believed that the FBI makes the decisions to try people in federal court needs to go back and read a primer on how our government works. Of course the AG made the decision. And? Much ado about nothing here.

    Thought provoking!

I agree with JC. Holder needs to go.

  • J.C. Grant1/22/2010

There is no way that a radical, left-wing ideologue like Holder should be Attorney General of the United States. He must resign.
