Obama Administration Has Plan to Make Veterans Pay for Health Care

It's Too Bad Stupidity Isn't an Impeachable Offense

OK, this is another break with my personal "no more than 1 post per day" rule, but the situation is that important. And I'm also that angry, too. If you haven't heard it already, try this item from CNN:

WASHINGTON (CNN)

"Veterans Affairs Secretary Eric Shinseki confirmed Tuesday that the Obama administration is considering a controversial plan to make veterans pay for treatment of service-related injuries with private insurance.

"But the proposal would be 'dead on arrival' if it's sent to Congress, Sen. Patty Murray, D-Washington, said.

"Murray used that blunt terminology when she told Shinseki that the idea would not be acceptable and would be rejected if formally proposed ...

"No official proposal to create such a program has been announced publicly, but veterans groups wrote a pre-emptive letter last week to President Obama voicing their opposition ...

"Asked about the proposal, Shinseki said it was under 'consideration.'

"'A final decision hasn't been made yet,' he said."

---

How that is for a stupid idea: so stupid that even Democratic Senator Murray can see it!

Although the above story is nauseating in its revelation (although, for some reason, unsurprising) of the Obama Administration's disdain for American veterans, what is truly sickening is that Veterans Affairs Secretary Eric Shinseki, a retired U.S. Army four-star general, would have listened to such a proposal without threatening to resign if it was ever mentioned again in his presence! In my opinion, Shinseki has lost any claim that he may have had to the respect of his fellow veterans because he is obviously more concerned with his desire for power and political influence than the wellbeing of those that served under him, as well little concern for those that have served in past wars.

As to the Obama Administration's obvious slight problem with honesty, I think the following news item, from the BostonGlobe.com web site, says it all:

March 12, 2009

Ft. Bragg, N.C.

"Michelle Obama, who has declared supporting military families as one of her signature issues as first lady, is stressing that issue in her first out-of-town trip.

"She is touring the Fort Bragg Army base in North Carolina, meet with military spouses, and learn about family support services ...

"President Obama, in announcing his Iraq withdrawal plan last month at the nearby Camp Lejeune Marine base, pledged to improve support for service members and veterans, citing 'our commitment to uphold our sacred trust with every man and woman who has served ...'

"'In her visits with military families across the country, my wife Michelle has learned firsthand about the unique burden that your families endure every day," the president said. "I want you to know this: military families are a top priority for Michelle and me, and they will be a top priority for my administration ...'"

Wow, Mr. President! Now that's support! Sending your overweight wife, in her designer clothes, out to make a few photo ops with military families! I tell you, it doesn't get much more supportive than that! Particularly while you were having "off the record" sessions, where you and Eric "Benedict Arnold" Shinseki were talking about making veterans pay for their health care! If you guys had been in the White House a few years ago, just think of all the money we could have saved on World War II by making everyone at Pearl Harbor pay for their own bandages!

May I suggest that you send a copy of this posting to your members of Congress, along with a few remarks about sending a few more people to the unemployment office after the next election? And how that it's fortunate that stupidity isn't an impeachable offense?
