Obama Babies

The New Baby Boom

David Patrick
For many people on November 5th, 2008 the sun shined a little brighter in the sky, the grape soda tasted "grapier," and love was in the air. There were some who found themselves waking to the afterglow of celebratory lovemaking. Barack Obama had won the election and it seemed like the dawn of a new era. And it just might be. The election of Barack Obama may have possibly opened the door for the next baby boom. Aside from those who may have gotten pregnant from a night whenhope took the form of an aphrodisiac, simply watching the affinity and affection that new first family has for one another may be contagious.

I like watching President Barack Obama and First Lady Michelle interact with each other. If you remember watching them from the campaign trail you will remember how well they seem to get along. Go back and watch them after speeches and debates. They appear to share a bond of best friends who happen to be married to one another. It was like night and day when the two stood next to other politician couples. You would have Senator McCain and his wife barely touching each other after debates and speeches. Even American's beloved Bill and Hillary just don't sell the love when we watch on a big screen as Bill mouths the words "i love you" during her speech at the DNC. What Barack and Michelle have seems to be genuine.

They joke with each other. Michelle was quoted to say that before Barack's speech at the 2004 DNC, she joked and told him to "not screw it up." You see them after speeches embrace each other, and as my wife pointed out, she tends to bury her face in his neck. Then they whisper things to each other to which both of them smile. They share their own personal handshake with the "fist bump." I remember after one speech that Barack grabbed Michelle around the waist and rested his hands on the small of her back just after slightly rubbing her butt for a brief moment. You two get a room! But we love it. We love the affection-- it's infectious. It makes them human.

We watch them love on their children and their children love them back. We haven't seen it quite like this before. They don't have this manufactured rules on how far they can go with the public display. They know what it takes to be there for each other and family during hard times and on the road to coming together under one mission to achieve a goal. They look like they know that they need each other, and are constantly showing that gratitude, love and friendship. And it's a turn on. People are feeling good about our new president, good about the new direction the country may take, good about the first family, good about faith in the American people... just feeling good. That good feeling will translate into amorous feelings. And the amorous feelings will make their way to the bedroom. Yes a baby boom is in the making. Over at least the next four years "hope" is the new aphrodisiac.

Funny take on this! I never quite looked at the Obamas in this way, but I do admire their obvious love for and commitment to one another. I'm surprised no one (that I am aware of) has capitalized on this by producing a CD of Obama-inspired love songs. LOL

Good write. I believe this is the beginning of the world as we knew it. No doubt in my mind.
