Obama Chooses Joe Biden for VP

In a Text Message to Supporters and Through an Announcement on His Web-site, Official Declaration Made by Barack Obama that Joe Biden Will Be His Running Mate

At 3:09am EST, the announcement for who Barack Obama has selected as his Vice-Presidential running mate in the upcoming election was released. The message stated: "Barack has chosen Senator Joe Biden to be our VP nominee. Watch the first Obama-Biden rally live at 3pm ET on www.BarackObama.com. Spread the word!

The word spread quickly, and the announcement then appeared on Obama's main web-site, letting the world know that indeed, Obama has chosen Biden to be his man. This is what the web-site stated:

Barack has chosen Joe Biden to be his running mate. Joe Biden brings extensive foreign policy experience, an impressive record of collaborating across party lines, and a direct approach to getting the job done. We have our team, but we also have our work cut out for us. Barack Obama and Joe Biden are the leaders who will bring the change our country needs. But they can't do it alone. Sources had already been stating that Joe Biden would be the choice of Obama, but the confirmation didn't come until late Friday night / early Saturday morning. Joe Biden has been a Democratic power-house for some time, as a 6-time elected Senator for the State of Delaware and the chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee. His choice as a running mate probably came down to his overall experience in politics, and that he is a steady voice to bring to the campaign. The choice of Biden is not a shock, but a lot will probably be made out of his opposition to Obama when he had his name in the Presidential race back in its early stages this year.

With the Democratic National Convention coming up this week, it is important for Obama and Biden to make their mark early, and they will be doing just that on Saturday, August 23rd at 3pm EST. They will be appearing in Springfield, Illinois to officially open this part of their campaign, and take it back to the same place where Obama made his announcement some 19 months ago.

The announcement through text messages and e-mails could be an ingenious method by the Obama campaign, as it really puts the candidate in touch with his supporters, and is something completely different than any campaign has done before. Allowing the "people" to know at the same instant that the media knew was also a stroke of genius, and could give the pair a quick jump on the polls for the upcoming election. For now though, people will be questioning just who Joe Biden is, and why he was selected as the running mate, but one thing is sure, it is really going to put the whole political landscape in a frenzy for the weeks to come.

I too was ticked over all the "breath-holding" suspense. Who the freak cares? I won't vote for him anyway!

Exactly right Tiffany, they really played it up, and got a lot of hours of free news coverage before the official announcement was made.

I guess he really played up the hype as it was all over the news last evening but the actual announcement did not come until this morning.

Good choice for him. He needs to soften his image and Biden is a wise choice.
