Obama faces flack from all corners even the one he should be receiving support from. Nancy Pelosi has made it abundantly clear that Obama had better check with her before doing anything that she doesn't agree with. Now wait a minute, I don't remember hearing that President Pelosi would be in charge for the next four years. Obama needs to put her in check and tell her that he is the one in charge not her. Apparently, she had a delusional belief that because Obama is a democrat that he will be her puppet.
My hope is that Obama can prove me wrong, that he can prove all of us wrong who did not vote for him. Obama is currently under fire from several groups for various reasons. Code Pink is angry with Obama for not making a statement regarding the current war between Israel and Palestine in the Gaza Strip. Code Pink is demanding that Obama make a statement even before he enters the oval office. As Obama said, there can only be one President at a time. He is aware of the situation and is being briefed daily. Why do these groups therefore demand that the President -Elect make a statement regarding this or any matter at this time? These groups which are becoming angry with Obama are working to ensure that he will keep his word regarding his campaign promises.
The group known as "Friends of the Earth" is now scrutinizing Obama for his plans to create a massive infrastructure plan to repair the lagging American economy. The group is angry claiming that it will cause a great deal of more pollution, and the increased need for foreign oil. The group has also developed a web site opposing the proposed infrastructure project called www.roadtonowhere.org. The group is also upset about the debt that it will add to our already huge deficit. This infrastructure program could cost the American people more than one trillion dollars.
The final slap in the face comes from the Human Rights Campaign Joe Solomonese who is outraged that President -Elect Obama has chosen Rick Warren from Saddleback Church. The group is angry because Obama has chosen to have Rick Warren deliver the inaugural invocation. Pastor Rick Warren drew controversy to himself when he stated that he does not agree with gay marriage. President -Elect Obama does not agree with the criticism and plans to move forward with the inauguration as planned.
I like the looks of things thus far, and I hope that Obama will continue to stand his ground and avoid falling into any specific group's pocket.
