Obama: Crypto-Muslim or Apostate

The idea that Barack Obama is a Muslim is not far-fetched. While many inside and outside Obama's camp have tried to debunk this notion, it will not go away for one simple reason: Barack Hussein Obama's father was a Muslim.

It is a really simple concept that many fail to grasp - if your father is a Muslim you are a Muslim. It was not a council of Atheists, Christians, Jews, and Buddhists who concocted this rule; it comes from Islam itself. Go outside of the West and ask any Muslim. He or she will plainly tell you that a Muslim man's children are automatically Muslims. It does not matter if he is no longer with their mother. It does not matter what kind of Muslim he is: devout/nominal, Shia/Sunni, etc. The faith of the mother does not matter. It does not matter if the child is devout or not. If your dad is a Muslim, you are a Muslim.

Awe, but the above does not jive with many an individual's multi-cultural sensibilities. If Obama claims to be a Christian then he is a Christian . . . many claim. The Obama camp goes even further and states that "Obama has never been a Muslim, and is a committed Christian" according to www.barackobama.com.

Let it be known that there is the "gaffe" where Obama used the words "my Muslim faith". Second, reasonable people are not claiming that Obama is, or ever was, a devout Muslim or a radical Muslim. However, a Muslim is still a Muslim. If not being devout automatically makes one a non-Muslim, then few in Indonesia are Muslims.

According to Islam, Obama is a Muslim by virtue of his dad being one regardless if either one is or ever was devout. However, there is evidence that Obama did, to a degree, practice his Muslim faith.

By now the infamous pictures of a young Barack in Muslim garb are all over the internet. The enrollment form for the schools Obama attended in Indonesia have become famous as they list Barrack Hussein Obama's (a.k.a. Barry Soetoro) faith as "Islam". Some might argue that putting in "Islam" for Obama's faith category was a mistake and that the enrollment form(s) was filled with mistakes. This is unlikely given the laws and culture in Indonesia. Active evangelism and instruction in another religion is viewed negatively in Indonesian society and there are laws regulating/banning the practice. That is why Indonesian schools, and schools in many other parts of the world, take steps to officially identify the faith group to which an individual (especially a child) belongs to. It would be illegal to teach Barack/Barry Christianity if he was a Muslim. Obama stated, in his book Dreams fromMy Father that he studied the Koran in school. This would not have happened if he was a Christian.

Furthermore, teachers and school mates from Obama's past have been interviewed and they have stated that Obama was not a devout Muslim, but that he definitely was a Muslim. Even his half-sister, Maya Soetoro, says that her family was Muslim. Given the enrollment form, the pictures of a young Obama, and the testimony of those who knew him when he was in Indonesia I am convinced that Obama not only is/was a Muslim due to his lineage, but also practiced Islam (again to a slight degree) when he was a minor.

However, Obama has in many ways stated that he is a Christian and not a Muslim. I would take issue with Barack's status as a Christian given statements he has made and his involvement with the heretical Trinity United Church of Christ. That discussion is for another day; for our purposes now a heretical Christian is still not a Muslim. If Obama is now a Christian (he was a Muslim for awhile - it is merely a question of how long) then he is an Islamic apostate. He is a "Murtad Fitri" - someone born to a Muslim father who rejects Islam. The various schools of Islamic thought have different ideas on the different kinds of apostates and what should be done to each kind. This is why the issue of when Obama stopped identifying himself as a Muslim does have some significance.

Whatever view one takes on what Islam says about apostates, if Obama is not a Muslim now then he is definitely a Murtad Fitri. That, or Obama is a crypto-Muslim. Whether Obama is a crypto-Muslim, or he apostatized, he and his camp are lying. Either, they are lying in saying he is a Christian (when he really is a Muslim) or they are lying when they state that he never was a Muslim (when the facts say differently).

To give further credence to the idea that Obama is a crypto-Muslim is the gracious reception, and praise, he has been given by Muslim leaders of Muslim countries. Granted. it helped that he bowed before the king of Saudi Arabia. However, I cannot see multiple Muslim leaders meeting and associating with an apostate of Islam.

"So what if Obama is a Muslim," says the man with a multi-cultural viewpoint. Obviously, the Obama camp knows the significance it has to the America people or it would not have felt the need to lie. As recent Washington history demonstrates, the cover-up (lie) matters even if the original allegation is bogus or benign. It is a different discussion for a different day, but let it be known that many Americans are not coming from the same point of view as the person who would ask that question.

So there you have it. Either . . . Barack Hussein Obama is a crypto-Muslim, or he is an apostate. I will let you, the readers, decide.
