Obama Czar John Brennan Says 20% of Terrorists Going Back to Battlefield to Kill Americans "isn't that Bad"

Barack Obama's Terror Czar John Brennan says that 20% of the released terrorists going back to the battlefield to kill Americans and others "isn't that bad." In another "What the hell did you just say?!"-moment that's becoming, sadly, increasingly common with Obama's rogue terror czar, John Brennan was speaking at-of all places!-the Islamic Center of New York University just this past Saturday. Since it was the Islamic Center and all, what better venue for John Brennan to spout another completely shocking and widely condemnable opinion that just confirms all the prior criticism that's rightfully been swirling around him for months! You know, just the same old, same old criticism that he's not up to the job, is inept, or simply is too liberal to be effective at his post as terror czar.

Brennan's stunning attitude of complacency toward the very real statistic that one-fifth of all released terrorists will immediately return to kill Americans referred to a now-notorious figure that made an appearance in a letter to Nancy Pelosi earlier this month. This 20%-figure was first found in a Pentagon study on recidivism rates of the terrorists who were held at Guantanamo Bay.

The context in which Brennan used that 20%-figure during his speech at the ironically appropriate Islamic Center at New York University was his comparison of terrorists and recidivism to mere, common criminals in the American penal system and recidivism there. In fact, as you will witness yourself in the following video, Brennan's exact words on the subject were:

"People sometimes use that figure, 20%, say, 'Oh, my goodness, one out of five detainees returned to some type of extremist activity.' You know, the American penal system, the recidivism is up to something about 50% or so, as far as return to crime. 20% isn't that bad."

Oh, okay, Mr. Brennan...I feel all better now because you in your infinite, liberal wisdom have authoritatively declared that 20% of all released terrorists returning to kill Americans is actually pretty darn good when you consider the American penal system!! I can sleep better at night knowing that now, sir!! In fact, I might actually start to agree with you that the War on Terror is really over and there's nothing to worry about anymore!! Actually, no, not really.

The sheer absurdity of the Brennan comparison would be comical if it didn't really give a window into the mind of a hardcore liberal ideologue who either just doesn't get it, or willfully doesn't care about reality when it comes to making decisions about protecting the US. The unpardonable issue with his comparison is that common criminals are very much less lethal in their recidivism than fanatical, al-Qaeda terrorists are in their recidivism.

In example, let's say a common, American criminal is let out after serving a couple of years for car theft; when he gets out, he relapses and steals another car. No one dies, and the country is not psychologically terrorized. In the converse, if a released terrorist from Guantanamo Bay relapses after he's released, guess what happens? He will kill Americans-not one or two since terrorism always targets crowds of people-and the psychologically destructive effect on the country in terms of the economy and commerce and everything else will be long-standing. So therefore, Brennan's comparison is a contemptible joke, much like the man himself.

If you're reading this staggering pattern of Brennan-errors and thinking to yourself, Why in God's name hasn't he been fired?" then you're not alone. To date, Republicans Peter King, Lindsey Graham, and Kit Bond are on record demanding he be fired. Predictably, the Johnny-come-lately Democrats-probably because they're too preoccupied with and losing sleep over their imminent, massive losses in the fall carnage called the 2010 midterm elections-have condoned Brennan's provocative statements and stayed silent on his resignation. Want to bet me a steak dinner that the more Brennan spouts off like this-and he's said plenty of just reprehensible things for a person at his post-the more likelihood there will be that a few Democrats will finally baby-step their way into joining a chorus of growing demands for this unqualified liberal's firing?
