Here's the story of a Chrysler executive attending a breakfast meeting. (Oh, man, pass the coffee. Italics mine.) The speaker was David E. Cole, Center for Automotive Research Chairman, full Professor at the University of Michigan, and automotive engineer with more than forty years of experience. Despite high education and long experience of his own, Professor Cole told stories of sitting through lectures given by "experts" in the car industry. In his speech this particular morning to the Chrysler execs, Professor Cole told of a meeting of real industry experts with the administration's industry "experts," who actually have zero experience in the industry, indeed zero experience in industry or in business at all, zero financial experience, zero engineering experience, and (I'm direct quoting the Chrysler executive now) "with apparently zero brains to tell them how to run their business."
Here's the rest of the "expert" story (sourced directly from http://www.luxlibertas.com/automotive-industry-challenge-david-cole/ ).
"There was a team of Obama people speaking to Mr. Cole (Engineer, automotive experience 40+ years, Chairman of CAR). They were explaining to Mr. Cole that the auto companies needed to make a car that was electric and liquid natural gas (LNG) with enough combined fuel to go 500 miles so we wouldn't "need" so many gas stations (A whole other topic). They were quoting BTU's of LNG and battery life that they had looked up on some website.
Mr. Cole explained that to do this you would need a trunk FULL of batteries and a LNG tank at big as a car to make that happen and that there were problems related to the laws of physics that prevented them from...
The Obama person interrupted and said (and I am quoting here ") "These laws of physics? Who's rules are those, we need to change that. (Some of the others wrote down the law name so they could look it up) We have the congress and the administration. We can repeal that law, amend it, or use an executive order to get rid of that problem. That's why we are here, to fix these sort of issues".End quote.
I'm suspect of this story. It may well be a website fabrication or wishful opinion or creative writing. But the point being made is clear. "Czar" appointees are a fact; their expertise is unclear; their intentions are tainted with politics; they were not elected by the people; and their incredible power is directed toward enacting the administration's radical agenda.
That's my opinion. The First Amendment says I can have one and speak it freely.
As for the laws of physics, so much for the rest of the universe, which has followed them for all time. We are bound by laws fabricated on Capitol Hill. After all, they do know better up there what's good for the rest of us. Don't they?

Post a CommentIt is all very scary right now! I do not know if the story is true or not, but your opinion really makes me think! Great job on this piece!
To Don: The quoted story may not be true, but it is referenced. The rest of the story is my opinion and editorial as advertised in the header. Last I knew, it's still a free country, I can have an opinion and speak it freely (although that may be changing). If you think the story untrue, be glad you can still express that publicly.
As much as I dislike the Obama administration, this story is simlpy not true. http://www.snopes.com/politics/obama/physics.asp
Very interesting read, Lorraine!
I'm thinking it has to be a joke... albeit an amusing one. There are a few laws of physics I would like to repeal, starting with gravity!!
I love the way you present this and your perspective. Nice job. :-)
Great write up, Lorraine! The czars want to change a lot of things; and apparently have a free hand to do so for now...
We're here to fix those laws! LOL That will keep the boys on the hill busy for a bit!
Enjoyable article ;-) Hmmm...guess the change part consisted of rewinding our security to pre-9/11 levels, coddling the enemy, further nationalizing our industries, AND empowering crazy czars.
I love living in the echo chamber that is my AC friends. Well done, Lorraine.
