Obama Heckled During Presidential Address to Congress on the Healthcare Reform Issues

During President Obama's speech to Congress where he was outlining what steps needed to be taken to work out all of the wrinkles in the healthcare industry, someone blurted out "You Lie".

President Obama was dumbfounded by this remark and looked in total disbelief around the room to see where this remark had came from and you could have heard a pin drop throughout the entire room.

Politics is definitely a contact sport in which people have the right to disagree in certain areas on any or all of the specific subjects and for such an outburst to occur shows just how uncivilized some people can be and how just the subject of American politics can bring out the lack of civility in all of us.

Republican Congressman Joe Wilson has made himself a well-known name since he made the outburst during Barack Obama's Presidential Address to Congress on television on Wednesday September 9, 2009. Congressman Wilson blurted out the words "You Lie" while President Obama was speaking on the Healthcare reform crisis and what needs to be done.

Since there is a huge fight going on right now about Public Relations between the Republicans and Democrats on this Healthcare Reform Issue and since both sides are trying to be the bipartisan wanting to work with the other party, this led to a quick apology not only from the Republican Party, but also from Congressman Wilson himself. The apology came the same night of the President's speech immediately because the Republican Party said that they did not want this outburst to go on for days and even longer and stay in the media for that long. Any apologies that are needed from the lawmakers in Congress usually take a few days to several weeks to come about. Congressman Wilson did apologize to President Obama and said that one apology is enough.

Everyone in attendance of the President's Address on the Healthcare Issue was very shocked about the outburst because nothing like this has ever occurred before during a Joint Session of Congress so for Congressman Wilson to shout out "You Lie" to President Obama left everyone including President Obama in sheer shock and disbelief about what they had just heard.

When I first heard the "You Lie" outburst I had to ask myself if I had actually heard what I thought I heard and when I realized I really did hear what I thought, I said to myself, this person has hit the nail right on the head and good for him to have the guts to speak the truth and say what many Americans feel is true! I personally would have cheered Congressman Wilson on too because ever since Obama took office on January 20, 2009, I have seen no change anywhere and so many people STILL cannot afford healthcare coverage no matter if it is provided through their employer or not!

If you are a senior citizen and drawing Social Security, you will not be receiving a cost of living raise for the next two years because according to Obama and other legislators, the cost of living is not rising! I do not know where they get there data from, but my cost of living and my parents has definitely gone up and still is. AARP seems to not care about this issue either. I say "Way to go President Obama". Give our hard earned working dollars away to the ones who are already wallowing in money and forget about the little normal people who are forced to sell things just to be able to have a hot meal one night!
